Fun little kit. Some tweaking may be required.
This is a fun little solder project kit that’s aimed at the beginner/novice crowd. All components are thru-hole, save one LED that’s soldered onto pads on opposing sides of the PCB. Assembly is pretty straight forward. The included instructions are sufficient, but require that you know your resistor values, or have a lookup table handy as the included resistors are not marked and the instructions only reference resistor values. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of. There is a QR code that links to full color PDF instructions that are a bit more detailed. My sample did require a bit of “fitting” to mate the two PCBs properly. The slots in the PCBs were milled about .5 cm short of what was needed for a good fit (see photo). I was able to resolve the issue in only a few minutes by using a hobby knife to whittle down the milled slots just a tiny bit. If you have a tiny file set, that would work as well.Included in the box was a “VIP” baggy that contained a small prototype PCB, some resistors, a few LEDs and a tiny electrolytic cap. Also in the package was a bit of solder braid and a “tip cleaning sponge.” Nice little surprise.

This is a great value for learning soldering at a really low cost ($13).
If you are interested in learning soldering, be you an adult, or a younger learner. This is an excellent way to get your feet wet. It’s a pretty realistic thing to be able to do this kit even with no prior soldering skills, but it will require you to have a bit of research skills, as there are (literally just a handful of things) in the guide to putting it together which will not be clear to someone with no knowledge. So if you are generally able to research when you don’t know how to do something to figure out the information you need, and want to learn soldering – I think this is a terrific value for you. The information left out of the guide, in my opinion, is actually a good thing as it helps you to learn the kind of things you’ll have to figure out on your own for future soldering projects.I only have one part of the build that I think deserves an actual complaint, There is a point where you are supposed to solder on two green LED’s, and if you do not look at the picture very very closely to notice that in the picture they are oriented not flat on top of the board (even if you look at it it’s very hard to tell this is the case) but off to the edge, you will solder it in a way which blocks the batteries from entering their holders – in my case I did not notice this, soldered them on incorrectly, and then had to go back and remove them (damaging the green LED’s in my case) and replace them with spare LED’s of other colors which luckily was included in the kit, but it would have been much preferable in my opinion if the guide specifically pointed out the orientation being mounted on the edge of the board for these two, and even that I suppose you could look at as a beneficial learning curve.Overall, this is a great first soldering experience, it’s totally doable for a first timer, it might not come out perfect (depending on you and how well you do, or it might), but even if it doesn’t you will learn a lot, and if you follow directions well this it something you can finish in one sitting and end up with something to show for your work and your first experience soldering.
