Excellent Rework Station
I have been looking for a decent and reliable rework station for quite some time and had looked into multiple brands and setups. I wound up purchasing this one due to the features, size, reviews, and believe it or not aesthetics, it’s a good looking machine. It’s got a clean and professional look, with an easy to manage interface.Once I received it. I immediately put it to the test, but first, let me start off with the listing for this station. Rather confusingly, this rework station is listed as “YIHUA 995D+ EVO Soldering Hot Air Station Kit 2-IN-1” however, in the same listing they also show another 995D +, the “YIHUA 995D+ 2 in 1 Hot Air Rework and Soldering Iron Station” as they show this as a different “color”. While that is not really a problem, what rather frustrated me was that one of the features that I really wanted in a station was the ability to also have “cool air” on the Hot Air side of the station. Since normally when a single listing shows 2 different units, the only difference is usually something like the version of the product and while the two units look vastly different, I had assumed that the difference had to do with an older version of the station and that this was a newer version of the station. Yes, I did note that the name was a bit different as the one I purchased was the 995D+ Evo, while the other did not have Evo in it’s name. Having looked at the descriptions of the two units, they were pretty much the same withe the difference really only being the name and that the 995D + specified that it did have cool air, while the Evo did not, however as I am sure many people can attest, the descriptions on Amazon can often be missing some key descriptors, so I had just assumed that these were really the same units, one being a newer revision of the other, and the description was simply missing the key descriptor which just happened to be the one feature that I had wanted in my station.Sadly, I was wrong. These units appear to be 2 very different devices, which really has me asking, if they are 2 completely different units, then why are they listed in the same listing? That is not something I have seen before. So that is very confusing. However, I will come back to this in a moment as I want to talk about the actual device i received..As far as what I received, it ticks all the boxes as a quality rework station that does what it says it will do, and it does it quite well. I am quite pleased at the functionality of the unit. First. the user interface is clean, professional, and easy to understand. The LCD is crisp and well contrasted. It is extremely easy to look on the LCD and understand exactly which tool your using and what temp you have it set to, and if your using the Hot Air side, how strong you have the air flow. They claim that it reaches temperature very quickly, I want to say that it should reach temperature within 7 seconds, or there about, and sure enough, this is one of the fasted units I Have owned that reaches temperature very quickly. This is very important based on the project your working on, where getting to temp, and holding that temp constantly can be the decider as to whether your project is a success or not. On top of that, when you set down the Soldering Iron into the holder, it will hold that temperature until you trigger the “Sleep” timer. and while i am not sure at the moment just how long that is, I do believe that you can adjust that timer. As for the Hot Air side, when place the Hot Air gun into the cradle, it will immediately being to cool down and the blower will also wind down. It likely has a hall effects sensor in it so it knows when you have set down the gun, and when you pick it back up, it will immediately heat right back up and will wind the blower back up to the speed you had it set to allowing you to immediately get right back to your project., as it takes mere seconds to get right back to your set temperature. With 3 memory settings, you can easily set your most common settings, and when you turn the unit on and select one of your saved settings, it will immediately configure itself to what ever you have saved them as and again, it takes mere seconds to get up to temperature. They included the 4 most common Hot Air nozzles, a full set of soldering iron tips (though the listing states it only comes with 3 tips so I am not sure if they all come with a full set of tips or if i just got lucky, but I sure am not complaining! 🙂 , a full roll of Lead Free Solder, not just a little starter role, Solder Sucker, tweezers, and a Solder Iron Holder, which has a brass wool cleaning section infused with rosin, and a wet sponge. The holder is nice and compact, and also holds 5 tips for easy access to your most frequently used tips. While this may sound silly, but thew holder has two large rubber friction strips on the bottom to keep the holder from sliding around on you. I have owned a number of Soldering Stations in the past, and oddly, none of them had rubber feet! There really is not much to not like about this station. YIHUA has created a very professional 2 in 1 rework station. It does what it says on the tin as they say, and the price is just what I would expect of a professional unit. I would definitely say that this unit is a professional unit, at the price of an entry level station. It comes with a great set of accessories that are pretty much must haves. This unit is very well constructed, its easy to use, and a pleasure to work with. I purchased this because i have been needing a Hot Air station for a while now, and the soldering station that i had previously for some reason (and this was supposed to have been a quality manufacturer) decided to start displaying errors on the screen and refused to hold temperature. Admittedly I had not done the same amount of research I had done prior to purchasing this one, and sadly, that’s apparent because there is no reason that my previous station should have died. When I researched this one, I was quite pleased when i read on multiple websites that out of all the Chinese companies that specialize in Soldering and Rework stations, YIHUA is one of if not the best manufacture with over a 20 year history specializing mainly in Soldering Stations and DC Power Supplies and you can see this in the quality of this station. Now, I do have a couple of complaints, and while these certainly are not deal breakers, I feel it’s important to give a full review with both the good and the bad, in fact, as YIHUA says, honest and full reviews are how they know what needs to be fixed or changed. So to start with, unfortunately between getting the unit and my first use, the manual has some how disappeared. Because of this, I was unsure how to manually set the temperatures to something other than what had been previously set in the 3 memory slots. Sadly, this is the one setting that is not as intuitive as the rest to figure out. I did eventually figure it out, but it was a bit of trial and error. The only thing that I actually really dislike about this unit is that whenever you change a setting, or set a temperature, the unit produces an obnoxiously loud beep. It is not just like, ok I will change the temp, no, its every time I move the dial and stop to reposition and start to move the dial again it makes a very loud beep. When you are in the setup menu, as you scroll through the menu, every setting produces this beep. I say it’s loud, and lets just say to quantify this, I am not allowed to use the station at night when my family is sleeping because it wakes them up. This is actually a huge problem for me because i tend to do a lot of my projects at night, and now I can’t. It’s truly that loud, and as far as i can tell, there is no way to turn the sound off.Other then these very few issues that I have with the unit (which the good and the quality of the station itself definitely out weigh the bad, so if you are on the fence whether to purchase this unit or not, I definitely recommend purchasing it), my last couple items are more about the company then the unit itself. To start, as I mentioned, I have some how lost the manual for this unit, and going to YIHUA’s website certainly was less than helpful as they don’t seem to have a single manual for any of their devices on their website. What is actually more frustrating that that is that the station that I purchased is not even on their website. At first, this worried me because i know there are a number of copy cat companies that tend to pop up however, the listing that I purchased this from was a YIHUA listing, and the second unit that shows up as a second option for this unit, the 995D + is on their website, so I don’t understand this at all. Why does this unit not show up on their site? Perhaps this unit has been discontinued and replaced by the other unit that was in the listing? I honestly don’t know. I even emailed YIHUA to the email address on their website, and I have gotten no response. Is this an indictment of YIHUA’s products? Well it certainly does not look good for them, and it its a stark difference from the Thank you note that they put in the package with the station where they claim to take reviews very seriously, but it’s certainly NOT an indictment of their products, the station is excellent, and built very well. I am glad I purchased it and I most certainly highly recommend it to others, if your in the market and you don’t mind wearing ear plugs while you use it do to the obnoxious beep every time you change a setting, then there is no reason you should not purchase this unit. IT does the job, it does it extremely well, and if I had to do this all over knowing what i know now, I would still purchase this station over many of the others within it’s price range, and I would even take this unit over many others with a much higher price tag. I don’t think you would be disappointed.I hope this review has been helpful to anyone who is considering purchasing this rework station, it’s just a really good, high quality, professional looking station that I am expecting to get many years of service out of, and hopefully this will be the last station I ever need to purchase.Cheers!

Great product at a great value
I bought this for rework on boards and other repairs. This does everything I need it to. The appearance is simple and it is easy to use. I like that I can turn on one side or both sides. Temperature control is really good. Great value for the money. The additional accessories that come with it are a bonus. This is a quality product and I would buy it again.

Works well after 3 years
Pros – Heats up quickly and maintains temperature well – Hot air gun works well for quickly desoldering, and I have had no problems with its housing melting or catching fire like some of the other reviews – Survived 3 years of intermittent hobby use without anything breakingCons – Soldering Iron Holder is pretty flimsy (note, there seems to be two variants of this, I have the black and silver all metal variant) – Once in a blue moon the hot air refuses to turn on, but so far just power cycling the station has fixed this problem – The hot air gun sometimes does not auto-cool when placed in the holder and you have to rotate it until it does, or turn off manuallyOther Thoughts – The tips are serviceable, but replace with Hakko tips if you want better performance – 3 years in without any attempts at calibration it runs about 20C low on the soldering iron, I wish I measured it when I first bought it to see if it came like this or drifted over time. The hot air temperature is spot on

“Green” 995D+ EVO has very limited replacement tip selection UPDATED Review
When purchasing the “green” 995D+ EVO soldering station, I didn’t realize how limited and difficult to find replacement tips would be. In the box, the instruction sheet listed all the different types of 900M series tips that were available, and there are many to choose from. However, 900M series soldering tips DO NOT FIT THIS PARTICULAR iron. This is the GREEN 110W version of the 995D+, aka the 995D+EVO. ONLY THE 902 SERIES or #1400 size type tips fit this station. The #1200 or #1201 or 900M size tips DO NOT FIT the “Green” version of this station! Good luck in finding variety in tips that do fit. What makes this totally confusing is that the 995D+, yes same model number … almost, rework station does take 900M series tips. But the “green” version 995D+ DOES NOT! This version is also known as the 995D+ EVO model, but that’s not spelled out clearly in this Amazon listing. The 995D+ EVO, also described as the 995D+-I (yes, totally confusing!) has similar functions to the “regular” 995D+ (non-EVO and not green colored), but they are not the same. The EVO heat gun cannot blow cold air like blue colored version can. The EVO version has a sleep function, but one cannot change the time it takes to go into sleep mode. And, as described above, they don’t use the same tips. All that said, the 995D+ EVO “green colored” version works very well and is a great soldering/rework station. The soldering tips heat up extremely fast … I never have to wait. And the sleep function and subsequent wake functionality works very well. My only gripe is that the tips documented with the instructions, the 900M series tips, don’t fit this station; their internal diameter is too small (900M internal diameter is 4.0 MM). The “EVO” version requires 4.5 (or is it 4.6?) MM ID opening in the tips to fit.I may return this station to get the regular 995D+ (non-EVO blue) version so that I can get tips for it easily that have finer, more precise ends.Except for the lack of tip choices, and the misleading documentation that came with the 995D+ EVO, I really like this station. The soldering station itself works great.UPDATE:——–I decided to keep this soldering station, I really like using it and the 5 available tips for it covers most of my soldering needs. I also recently purchased the Yihua Precision 982 soldering station for fine SMD work; the 982 uses 210 series tips which have lots of available variety to choose from. So, between the 2 soldering stations, I’ve got the soldering versatility that I needed. I like having the 110 Watts of heating power in the 995D+ EVO and the fine SMD capability of the 982 (with tiny tips). I’m quite pleased with both of my Yihua purchases.

Options
I like that this had various selections. I had a cheap one and really had issues soldering xt60s 90s… this allows for temp selection and I like the heat gun for shrink wrap…

I’ve tried over 10 different soldering irons, price range between 80 and 690, and this is where my journey ended. Don’t make the same mistakes if you are a hobbyists.Really thing can get any better and I rather buy this over and over instead of spending on more expensive ones.Amazing temperature control and auto cool down and shut off feature which helps with the longevity and accuracy of the device.
