The WEP 982-I is a compact precision soldering station made specifically for micro soldering. This unit is especially great for those who solder smaller electronics but also need a soldering station with minimum foot print on the work desk.
Custom Holder Positions
You can mount the holder securely onto the station via a screw, or use the holder separately based on your preference.
C210-Compatible
The soldering iron handpiece is C210 compatible, and uses the latest cartridge-type heating element/soldering iron tip design to provide excellent heating performance. Our heating element heats up to 662°F in 2 seconds, giving you the most efficient soldering experience.
Precision Soldering
We recommend using this station for micro soldering and other types of precision soldering jobs. You can see your work better under the microscope/magnifier better thanks to its smaller and thinner tip size. This unit is not suitable for heavy-duty soldering.
Accurate Temperature
Built-in PID controller cycles in milliseconds to compensate for temperature loss, and keeps the actual temperature steady. You can expect a smooth soldering experience with this unit.
Full Metallic Body

This unit is specifically designed for precision soldering work on micro components. The tips are designed fine and slim to allow better view when micro soldering under a microscope or magnifying glass. The cartridge-type soldering tip is also a heating element, this gives you rapid heating performance.

RE – DOA out of box.
After reading the dead on arrival review, i risked my money and had the same issue with the three tips, i assembled the unit as soon as i received it, because i didnt want to risk blowing the return window, i was quite sad for this thing to be a bad item, then as a final test i twisted the tip and pushed (chinese quality sometime requires a more blunt approach), then the metal detention ring thing inside the unit gave in, and the tip slide in a little more, then i pushed harder and seated at the bottom of the holder, if you see the pictures attached, the difference is just an eight of an inch, turned the unit again and voila!! The unit is working, it heats pretty fast

I love this thing!
I’ve had several different types of irons over the years and this is my favorite without a doubt. It’s perfectly thought out. It’s small and easy to handle with nice silicone wire. The main body is made of a high quality extruded housing and can be placed away from the handle and holder to free up space. The holder is one of the best features. It is sold and heavy and doesn’t move around. It has spots for extra tips but the best part is the handle auto senses when its placed in the holder. It goes to a sort of semi-sleep mode until removed then quickly heats up to the set temp again.The tips provided seems to be very good quality so far and are very sharp. I’ve used it on several SMD repairs so far and the size is great for small work.I would definitely recommend this and wouldn’t hesitate to buy again if needed.

DOA out of box.
I purchased this solder iron to replace the charging port on a Galaxy Tab-E tablet.Looked well built and pretty much, a straight up, good looking station.The first thing I noticed was that the soldering tips I received, were not the 3 advertised. I received 2 straight tips, instead of the 3 tips, 1 straight, 1 curved and 1 chisel tip, that was advertised.When getting ready to use, the station returned a sensor error. This typically means that the tip is bad and needs to be replaced. I installed the 2nd tip I received and got the same error. (Yes, the silicone protective sleeve was removed from both before installing).The odds of both tips being bad was slim so I’m guessing the problem was within the main station body.I opted to return the station and have Amazon send me another, Will update this review once I have a chance to use the replacement.UPDATE: Received the replacement and had the same problem. I will get a refund for this and get a different model. Shame.. I really liked this thing. If one of them would have only worked..

Best Unusable Soldering Iron I’ve tried
First the bad. The tips are unusable. The power output is so low that the temperature has to be set 50-75 degrees hotter than my trust ancient Weller to work, and then it takes 2-3 times longer than normal to form a joint. The plating on the tips is thin, fragile, and terrible. The photo shows the scoring and pitting after just 20 joints! The others included performed the same, all lousy. With poor plating like this the tip can’t wet, and you’ll have to go back and forth between your tip tinner and the sponge several times just to make one joint. The higher temp needed makes this problem worse by accelerating the oxidation of the plating material. So why 3 stars?Now the good: The form factor is great, the handle fit and sleep function are great, the ability to store 3 temp settings is really handy, and it’s VERY well built. We bought two of these. There was a startup error with one of them and their Customer Service got back to me right way and they were very helpful and responsive. I don’t think these guys make their own tips. I bought a few C210 tips from other vendors. If they work I’ll report back. In the meantime these two will sit on the shelf gathering dust until this vendor solves the problem, or I can find a usable tip somewhere else. The reason to buy a tool like this is to work on fine pitch parts, i.e. TSSOP and smaller. You can get a Weller TETS tip with a 0.4mm end, which is marginal. This soldering iron comes with 2 tips of 0.2mm, and smaller are available. Sounds great in theory. I hope they figure it out. 3 Stars for encouragement and effort. 0 stars for usability. For now.
