Better than epoxy for healing broken plastic
I got this because my father-in-law crashed into my large plastic toolbox, causing a large crack running down its side. I couldn’t bring myself to throw away that toolbox, because they cost $150 new, so I got this plastic welder kit to see if I could heal the crack. In the past, I’ve tried using a two part plastic welder epoxy, and those never seemed to have the strength to withstand any sort of impact. This plastic welder worked great to stitch together the crack and close it up. The cutters that come included worked ok, but I ended up switching to a pair of heavy-duty cutters that I have in my toolbox. I went back over with a flapper wheel and then some sealant to keep the moisture out, and it’s good as new!

Budget-friendly plastic welder for automotive interior panels
I got this plastic welder to save a ton of money by repairing multiple damaged interior panels in my Mazda RX7. The rear hatch plastics in my car were cracked in a few places and wobbling around. Not wanting to hear a constant rattling noise anymore, I decided a plastic welder would be the best option for mitigating some of the broken plastics near the rear of my car. This plastic welder is essentially like a soldering iron mixed with a hot glue gun. You put a staple in it, get it hot, and press it into the cracked plastic. Multiple staples will help ensure the part doesn’t come back apart. This tool has worked great so far for fixing cracks as small as an inch, to large cracks that are nearly a foot long. I would highly recommend picking up extra staples if you see yourself performing multiple repairs.

A quality basic plastic welder kit
This did an excellent job of repairing a crack in a plastic UTV part. The melting point is predictable. Just pay attention during the process and all should go well. This kit does not have any finishing items to clean up the repaired cracks to “like new” status. There is a good supply of staples with an extra amount of the crack style. I believe the staples are stainless as they are not attracted to magnets. The provided cutters(?) damaged easily when cutting the excess staple leads. Ended up getting a small pair of side cutters to finish the job. Nippers may be another option. Be sure to wear safety protection. Eye protection and gloves as the cut staple leads fly with force when cut. Using a device to stop them from flying too far is a good idea as well. If it was possible to give half stars, this would get 4 1/2. 1/2 star loss for the cutters. The instructions do not show/list the cutters but just mention using a “plier” to remove the staple leads. I would recommend.

Handy way to fix the previously unfixable items in your life
I just used this to repair a plastic baffle underneath my Toro walk behind mower. In a dozen places, this tool was able to melt and bind together the jagged sides of the breaks, extending the life of my mower. Using the tool was easy: I picked the flat zig-zag shape, inserted one into the ends of the tool. The holes are chamfered so it’s easy to do, even in poor light. Pulling the trigger switches the heat on, and the wires heated up in about 2 seconds. Press into the material, sink it in to a reasonable depth, release the trigger. The plastic will re-freeze. Pull the tool off of the studs. The ends of the wires were clipped easily -and- flush with the surface. The repair I made seems to be holding up well so far. I have used the mower once on a 1/4 acre.

Good welder, bad cutter
I used this plastic welder on an old car bumper that was getting ready to sand and refinish. The clear coat was nearly gone and the there was a crack in the bumper. The welder did a good job of fixing the crack but the cutters were basically destroyed after the first 6 staples I cut. I ended up with staples that were sticking up higher than I would like, which made it impossible to sand.

Heats up quick and works well
This unit heats up nice and quick and performs well. Includes a small amount of staples that’ll cover most repairs and then some. I have no complaints.

Worked great to repair my plastic wheelbarrow!
I tested this product on my plastic wheelbarrow that had some large cracks in it. Some of the cracks were large enough that the plastic had bent out of shape and caused gaps, but these staples were strong enough to hold it together! Super easy to use and takes only minutes to make a repair. My one caution is the snips that come with this kit are not really meant to cut such heavy-duty staples, so the blade was immediately dulled. I would also recommend wearing eye protection and gloves when snipping the staples, because the ends came off at a high enough velocity to pierce through my glove and cause my hand to bleed.

Very Nice, Works Great
I have never used one of these plastic welders before and wanted to try it out. I did a practice run on an old colander that I had. The walls are very thin and not sure if the welder would work. But to my surprise I was able to insert the staple with no problem and not bust through the other side. The trigger response for the heat was pretty good, it heated up quite rapidly and shut off was quick also. The only ding I would give this is the cutters it came with. The staples are quite robust and looking at the cutter I knew it was going to have a tough time. That being said the staples are quite thick and should be able to hold which is a plus. Overall this product works great for me and look forward to using it on some thicker materials.
