Design Principle: The electromagnetic swing kit operates on the fundamental principles of electromagnetic induction, showcasing the intriguing properties of Hall effect sensors. As the magnetic field varies, it generates forces that propel the swing back and forth, creating a captivating and continuous motion. This kit serves as a compelling demonstration of electromagnetic induction, offering a hands-on way to explore one of the core concepts in physics. It’s an excellent tool for learning and experimentation, making the abstract principles of electromagnetism tangible and easy to understand
Play on a Swing: To make soldering more engaging and enjoyable, ICSTATION has crafted a whimsical PCB design featuring a cartoon tree and a playful dog. This creative approach transforms the soldering process into a fun and rewarding experience. Once assembled, the completed project resembles an adorable scene of a dog swinging on a tree, adding a touch of charm and personality
RGB LED Lights: The tree features static lights, giving it the appearance of a charming apple tree. Meanwhile, the baseplate showcases dynamic lighting, creating a lively and colorful display that enhances the overall visual appeal. To add to the experience, the brightness of the baseplate lights can be easily adjusted using a convenient knob, allowing you to customize the ambiance to your liking
STEM Practice: Beyond its visual charm, the electromagnetic swing is a powerful tool for STEM education. It provides a hands-on opportunity to explore the principles of electromagnetism, offering students a concrete and engaging way to grasp complex scientific concepts. By experimenting with the swing, learners develop practical insights into physics and electronics, nurturing their curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills. This interactive approach makes learning science not only effective but also exciting and memorable
Creative Present: Looking for a present that stands out from the ordinary? The electromagnetic swing kit is the perfect choice. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday or adding a touch of charm and energy to a workspace, this kit combines creativity and sophistication in a unique way. Thoughtfully designed with innovation and care, it’s more than just a present—it’s a conversation starter and a delightful showcase of ingenuity. Ideal for any occasion, it’s a present that leaves a lasting impression

Good introductory material
I got this to practice my own soldering because I get a little weak at times. It is pretty decent with lots of opportunities to work and build your muscle memory. It’s fun and easy to do and the lights work as expected if you’re a good solder.

Great little project for a beginner
The kit came in nice ESD-sensitive packaging. The circuit boards are well made. As are all of the components (diodes, resistors, leads, etc.). The kit came with a basic set of instructions with 20 steps. It also has a QR code to download a more detailed version of the instructions (a pdf file). You need a soldering iron, solder, and flux for the project. And a little bit of knowledge on how to solder would be useful prior to starting.  I’m going to use it to introduce my son to basic electronics and electricity. It’s perfect for his first project.

Fun kit for teaching soldering and practicing skills
My teens think soldering is so much fun. And it’s not a bad skill to have. This little kit comes in an ESD bag and has all the pieces you’d need for a little learning project (except the soldering iron).

Fun build, but with a few issues
I really enjoyed building this kit. It was very straight forward for me as I have quite a bit of past soldering experience. I can see it being a real challenge for someone that does not have past experience. The included instructions were adequate for someone that has soldered before, but lacking for a first timer. There is a QR code on the paper for more detailed instructions, but I didn’t look into them.I did run into several issues, though. Firstly, there are two slight errors on the included printed instructions. Step 1 refers to installing R2 and R3 but these are actually R10 and R11. The other error is that Step 11 points to the wrong thing that should be about 1.5cm in length. The 1.5cm should be the lead length from the hall effect sensor to the bend, not the lead length from the end of the leads to the bend. Lastly, one of the threaded standoffs in mine was not threaded. I was able to build the kit without it, but it shows there is a bit of room for QC improvement on the manufacturing side. I do have a tap kit and plan to tap out the standoff later when I get the chance.Regarding tools needed, I used a soldering iron with a fairly small tip. For part of it, I did have to increase the temperature a bit to get some larger connections to melt and flow correctly. I also used a #2 Phillips screwdriver, a pair of needle nose pliers, two different pairs side cutting pliers (one small one for trimming the leads, and one larger one for the steel swing wires), a little bit of solder flux, and some small diameter solder. All in all, its a basic kit that is good for practicing soldering. The end result is a fun item to sit on your desk or work area for display. This would make a great project for a beginner to soldering, but perhaps not for someone’s first attempt at soldering.

Great little kit
There’s much less to this kit than it appears in the photos. I was surprised at how quick this kit went together. The end result is actually cute and I’ll keep this one on my desk. It’s all through hole components, so fairly run of the mill and easy going. The only thing that actually took me some time was straightening out, then cutting and bending the swing arms (it comes rolled up in a little coil). I also blew up one of the RGB LEDs since I installed in backwards and didn’t catch my mistake until I powered it up. Thankfully, there was a spare included so I didn’t have to dig one out of the stash. Two thumbs up from me.

Fun to build
My child really enjoyed making this, he’s into making robots and into electronics.

Fun Project Kit
This was a fun little build! I liked the variety of components (including an electromagnet) as well as the structural assembly.Extra LEDs and resistors were included in case you happen to lose one which was a nice touch. Overall, I’d say this is a beginner-friendly soldering project and uses only through-hole components.5 stars for educational value and would order again.

Great little kit
This kit has something for everyone: magnetics, mechanicals and electronics. Nothing about the soldering is difficult if you’ve soldered before. There are no SMD components here and the kit isn’t very complicated, so if you’re comfortable with through-hole soldering – even if you’re new to it – you shouldn’t have any trouble with this one. Fun kit!
