The smart car kit is equipped with the IC chip LM393. Through reasonable circuit design, it’ll follow the dark-color lines automatically.
BRIEF INTRODUCTION As we know, the light source has different reflectivity for white and black objects. Here we use red light source and it is reflected back to the photoresistors. By detecting the resistance of the photoresistors, the car can determine if it is driving in the black area. If the detector detects that one of them has drifted, it’ll reduce the voltage on the opposite motor, the car will correct its course to back the black area. The red LED show which motor is receiving power.
There is a 16mm wide black runway on the back of the paper instruction sheet ready for testing. If it won’t follow the line, you may need to adjust the potentiometers easily. The process also acquires a better understanding of the circuit design again. EASY AND FUN TO SOLDER When the PCB board taken out, you will find out it is easy to solder because of the clear pads and marks.
If you use it as a teaching kit, it would be nice for learners training soldering skills and learning basic electronics knowledge such as the schematic diagram, mechanical structure, electronic basic skills, automatic control, etc. It can be used to an electronics competition kit at school.
You’ll have awesome family time if you assemble the solder project kit with your lovely kids, they’ll definitely be proud of themselves when done. 😊 It not only to improve the soldering skills, but give interesting experience of assembly! Please Note ✔ A detailed PDF instruction with pictures is ready for you. Please check if you’d get it from Amz. If the message setting blocks it,
ANY NEEDS feel free to reach us, we’ll response you ASAP.
✔ There’re 2 and 5 pack smart car kits options, scroll up and have a check. Hope You Like the Smart Car Kit. Enjoy!
Gives Interesting Experience of Assembly – Every components and English instruction of the smart car kits are ready for you. Just build a line following car easily, which is great for hobbyists and learners.
Electronic Knowledge the kits Involves – The solder practice kit involves the principle of mechanical structure, electronic, sensor, automatic control, and discipline knowledge. Which is great for students learning.
Practice Soldering and Learning Electronics – The smart car kit is fun for soldering. It’s also good for keeping up with soldering if you have not done it in a while. Why is the little car always tracking the black lines? The more you practice and thinking, the more your learning. Please Note, it may can be your 2nd or 3rd soldering kit. if you are totally ZERO experience in soldering electronics, maybe the kit is not a good choice for you.
Working Voltage: 3V; Finished car size: 104*72*55mm; 2 pcs AA batteries are required (No battery included). You can design your own runway easily by using the black tape (1.5~2.0cm ) or black colored pen. If you have any other needs, please feel free to let us know, we’d love to hear from you!
Customers find the product fun for kids and good for learning. They mention it’s a great toy and looks cool. However, some customers have reported missing components and disagree on the ease of assembly and functionality.

Fun educational electronic learning line tracing robot
To assemble this line tracing robot and then see it follow the black line round and round certainly is a fun and exciting experience for any beginner electronic hobby fan.The kit requires about two dozen small electronic components to be soldered and about a dozen mechanical parts to be assembled. With several decades of electronic and soldering experience, it took me about 2-1/2 hours from start to finish. So for a beginner, it’ll probably take about 5 to 10 hours. The instructions are okay but not detailed enough if you have absolutely no knowledge of the electronic components. Here are some details that should be included in the instructions. The most important is that the orientation of the LEDs, the capacitors, the transistors and the IC is very important. If you reverse any of them, it will not work. For example, for the LEDs, the short leg is negative and the long leg is positive. Then on the PCB, which hole is the positive and which is the negative for the LEDs? The documentation doesn’t tell you about how to orient them. The color code for the resistors is not mentioned, so you’ll have to find from other sources how to identify the resistor values. Even the simple thing as the black and red wires from the battery holder – which one is the positive and which is the negative? For people who knows the standard, we just take it for granted, but for beginners, you need to tell them that red is positive and black is negative. Finally, connecting the four motor wires one way will make the motors turn in the correct direction, and reversing the wires will make the motors turn in the wrong direction. It’s hard to tell. Just connect it one way. If the motors are turning in the wrong direction then reverse the wires. Do it one motor at a time.To make it a more electronic educational learning experience, there should be more discussion on the circuit and how it works.

Okay item. Could be better with instructions.
Instructions are very poorly written. One led was faulty out of package so I had to order a new one.

Fun little robot. Some patience is required though.
I purchased this kit to show off with my robotics club at an “Engineering Day” event we were hosting a booth at. Overall I am very satisfied. Below are my thoughts:Packaging: Arrived quickly and was well packaged. Everything was there and other than some slight bending on the IC pins which was quickly corrected with gentle finger pressure to bend them straight, there was no damage. The resistors are not marked so a multi-meter is handy to know which is which. (the bands are so small, my old eyes had trouble reading the color codes)The Build: As soon as I ordered the kit, I messaged the seller through Amazon and asked for a copy of the English instructions. They responded almost immediately and sent me a nice .pdf with easy to read English and many pictures to support the text. This is not a difficult kit but it does require soldering of small components and soldering of two through-hole LEDs and LDR’s without flush mounting them to the board. I would say if you have never soldered before- buy some perf-board and a set of LEDs and just practice getting good solder joints before starting this. It is nothing too difficult if your soldering skills are at least adequate. The tools needed are Soldering iron and solder, flush cutters, wire strippers, and a small phillips head screw driver.Getting is going: The build, if you follow the .pdf instructions is not much more difficult than building a LEGO model (if legos required soldering together). There are two small potentiometers which must be adjusted according to the instructions in the manual. It took a little time to get it dialed in but it absolutely works.Final thoughts: This is not a competition level line follower, but for the price it was a fun build and a great toy. I believe kits like this can help spark young people’s interest in robotics and electronics. For the price I think the kit is a great value. I was impressed at how responsive the seller was. While I did not experience any problems with my kit, I feel like their willingness to so quickly send me the manual is a strong indication that they do support the products they sell. I will probably buy a couple more kits for my own kids and to share with my robotics club.If you have never soldered, are unfamiliar with wiring diagrams/schematics, and lack patience this may not be the kit for you. If you have a little knowledge or the patience to work through gaining that knowledge and want a tiny palm-sized bot to skitter along an electrical tape track you’ve stuck to a piece of white poster-board for the amusement of yourself and others- this is a great kit. I was so happy I 3D printed a sign for mine calling it “Johnny Cash Bot” since it walks the line.

Missing Parts
Missing a transistor/triode so it’s impossible to assemble. The parts it did come with are easy to solder on and the PCB markings are easy to read. However the names the instructions use for the parts don’t always match the names used in the parts list provided which can be confusing if you’re still learning parts.

not a good fit for a novice
I bought a few of these for my engineering and robotics club. They looked cool and are inexpensive.Upon getting them, I noticed that they are not for beginners. I had to requesta manual from the seller for assembly directions, and even those are not well writtenor complete.I have had kits these for several months and every students, except one, lost interest in kit.I’d advise the seller to make sue that every part and wire be clearly shown as to where itgoes (with polarity) in a new instruction manual, even if the instructions are a downloadablePDF file. And the students were told they could keep the kits if they complete the kit assembly. If you are getting this for a person who has electronic knowledge, itcould be a good deal. If you are getting this for a beginner, I advise you lookfor a much simpler kit with easy to follow and complete instructions.
