This is a nice DIY kit, it goes together easily and keeps track of time well.
This kit was easy to build, and it keeps track of time even when left unplugged for a week. The instructions for assembly are good, the instructions for use could be better. If you play with the buttons while referencing the instructions you will eventually figure out how to set it up to display the colors you want and the other display modes. The temperature sensor is a bit inaccurate, it comes with instructions to adjust the temperature reading, but it is not accurate if the temperature changes. For example, it currently indicates that it is 73 Deg. F. in the office, this is accurate as this is the temp I adjusted it to.But when the heat turns down over night, it will read in the low 50’s even though the furnace set point is 65 at night and the office is actually 63 Degrees. The daytime set point is 68, but the office runs warmer when it is in use.

Very fun kit for your child or adult liking these projects
Since he was 10 years old, my son has loved working with his hands on these projects. Yes, I have purchased many and also have the setup with the clips to hold items steady and the light for ease of doing project. The sense of accomplishment and pride when he is finished makes this priceless

Awesome for competition, easy for beginners
Want to watch a group of millennials lose their mind? Get a bunch of these, a $5 plastic trophy, and a timer. I was in charge of a holiday event for work, and these little clock projects were met with chuckles and dismissed. Nobody took these beginner soldering kits seriously. Until the prize was announced for the person who could do it to absolute perfection. My co workers went feral. Things were being measured to a 1000th of an inch. 3 microscope stations were brought in. Btw the prize was a photo of yourself with the $5 plastic trophy on the break room wall. (With clock)Even these simple first-time soldering kits can be fun for everyone. Best Xmas party in years.Btw I included a before and after pic. As well as a short video of the clock turning on. The light sensor and thermistor are left open to you, but its pretty easy to finger it out.The instruction sheet is worthless for assembly, but the board is very clearly marked. The sheet is required to set the time/date/colors/speed/etc. Once set, I folded up the paper and put it inside the clock.

Not a first time project. Confusing
No instructions on how or what to solder. We downloaded the instructions from the web but they offered very little assistance. Very poor directions for a DIY project. Tried to use it in my 7th grade science classroom but the students became very confused and never finished it.

good beginner soldering project
This soldering kit was pretty easy to put together in less than an hour – good level of difficulty for someone who is a novice at soldering but needing more practice. The instructions (you must scan the QR code to find them) are a little unclear at parts, but I managed to figure it all out just fine in the end. Once you have a finished unit, the actual clock itself is pretty terrible to try and set. It comes with an impressive number of features (dual alarms with musical choices, calendar, temperature, color settings, auto-dimming), but there are only two buttons for controlling everything. The clock setting instructions are super confusing. I also tried setting it to a 12h clock but then I couldn’t get it to set to 12pm instead of am.Long story short, use this for a fun soldering project, but don’t expect to actually use the clock in a practical way.

It was a good kit for learning and you end up with a nice alarm clock.
I chose to build the Banria clock kit because I wanted to do something with my grandchildren to expose them to electronics learning and hands on building. The kit went together nicely. It is well made. The SMDs are pre-soldered and the board is well made. I could probable put it together with out reading but it is very good that they have a downloadable manual with detailed instructions and schematics. It is good to learn how to read instructions and pictures. The kit worked the first time. We needed to look for cold solder joints and bridges. The crystal leads are close and we had a bridge to fix there. You will need a soldering iron with a pointy tip and some thin solder. The clock chip and the controller chip have sockets so that gives less chance of damaging them. There are a lot of settings but they are not too complicated. I would consider buying other products from this company.
They fall apart to easily, instructions suck.December 8, 2024
Didnât work
Iâve been building these kits for 70 years, and this one had inferior parts that caused the unit not to work, big waste of money
