A quality soldering iron for casual use
I don’t often have to solder, but when I do it’s nice to have a reliable soldering iron to do it with. After dealing with portable butane powered irons I decided to get a rechargeable one and it’s been a much better experience.The iron heats up quickly and it’s nice to be able to select the perfect temperature for what I am working on. It doesn’t get as hot as a plug in iron, but for 90% of people out there this shouldn’t be a problem. My only complaint is about the stand. It’s a little flimsy. I would have liked a weighted bottom so it’s not as easy to tip over. The weight of the iron is in the bottom part of the handle, which sticks out of the top when its in the stand. I would also have liked to see the stand be what charges the iron instead of plugging the iron itself into a USB-C cord.Overall, I am very happy with this.

Does not go to 842 degrees
Max temp on this is 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Very cheap material only good for small items can’t use it on bigger items.

Pretty slow, really needs it’s own portable cover
I think the concept and use of portable soldering irons with their own battery is awesome and I really like having one. However, compared to the semi-portable ones I’ve used that use an external portable battery bank, this one seemed to take a full 30+ seconds to get to temperature. It also seemed rather inconsistent on what parts of the iron were hot and what wasn’t. Without a proper cover to put on it during transportation, I’m really hesistant to throw this in my backpack like I’d like to. The buttons are pretty exposed and would most certainly end up being activated inside my backpack at some point. The stand does not attatch securely to the iron to accomplish this purpose.

Battery Powered Hot End
The soldering iron has a good build, fits nicely in the hand, and is easy to operate. The accessories are quite handy, especially if you don’t already have them. The stand is functional and holds up to its purpose.It’s interesting that the tips use a type of screw in base, looks like it has a light bulb base, issue with this is I imagine the soldering tips are proprietary and you can’t just get any tips.The Iron itself does get quite hot, and seems to maintain temperature, with an adjustable temperature design.The device is designed with an integrated LED light, which is quite handy with getting a good visual.Now I tried using a soldering practice kit with this irons solder and just had a bad time, chalk it up to lack of experience, maybe… I just could not get the solder that comes with the iron to tin the tips very well, and it was resisting any sticking. If you plan to use this iron, I would consider furnishing your own favored soldering wire.I could not confirm the temperature was exact to the reading of the iron, but I did get the iron to function better with my own solder.I wouldn’t think this iron works great for smaller electronics repair, unless you have the skills and patience. Larger things would work just fine. Using it to perhaps melt brass inserts or wood burning would be even better.Overall, if your work is more casual, and you don’t plan to do much smaller component soldering jobs, this will work fine, and the cordless feature holds up battery life quite well, I was able to get my job done on the single charge.
