Affordable, Heats Up Quickly, Easy to Use
My title says it all. Zero complaints. I bought this to put holes in some of my plant growing pots, mainly for orchids. Super easy to use. Quickly heats up, so make sure not to lean anything against this.In the past my husband would drill these holes, but for my thin translucent growing pots, this seemed like overkill. This soldering pen works perfectly.

Great buy – worked perfect
I needed to solder fine wires together and my 20 year old iron gave out. This was a surprise on how well it works. Heats fast and did the job. I wish I bought 15 years ago. Recommend buying. Not sure it would hold up for daily use but for getting those random jobs done, this is perfect.

It works for me
It heats up quick. Easy to use. I’m not a soldering expert but have done a few things (like repairing PS5 controllers/etc) and it works for me. It’s light, so definitely not the top shelf quality. The sponge is useless, get a solder ball for tip cleaning. The included tips are good for a various array of needs. It does seem to cool down pretty quickly too. Even after soldering at 800+ F. Maybe not for a professional but for someone new to soldering with a couple projects, the price is right.

Very nice, you can not only adjust its temperature but it has an offset calibration setting for very accurate temperature control. It can display in C or F and it remembers all its settings even after unplugging from the outlet. The tips are very easy to change. It even came with a small block of rosin flux. The rest stand seems to be made from Bakealite, so the tip won’t melt it, but don’t drop it on a hard surface as it may break. The sponge compartment is a nice touch for out of the box use, but it is a bit small so I use my larger sponge. The instruction book was informative but you have to interpret the translation a bit, but it is helpful. It came with a standard tip plus 5 more various tips. It also came with a good amount of solder. The iron is lightweight, comfortable, and very easy to handle. The LCD display is very easy to read. It goes from off to 760 F in under 2 minutes.Update: While handling the soldering iron, my hand would sometimes rest up against the buttons, depress them, and change the temperature on me (usually the white minus button which lowers the temperature). What I did: I used a shop razor blade (the kind used for razor scrapers) and carefully trimmed each button flush. Now my hand won’t press the buttons – I just use blunt ended tooth picks to press in the buttons. Works fine, lasts long time.

Very pleased so far
I bought this as a replacement for a Weller 60 watt with adjustable base (analog knob and no temperature reading) I have been putting up with for a few years now. I bought the old soldering iron from a big box store and was immediately disappointed with it because the detachable iron is indeed 60 watts, but the base is only 40!. It took literal minutes to get hit enough to melt leaded solder and would lose heat the moment you touched it to wire or a PCB. I would have to run it hot because of the constant fluctuation in temp and it was just awful to use. I finally gave up on it this weekend when I struggled for what felt like ages to get a simple through hole capacitor out, and by the time I got the solder heated evenly enough to wick enough off the legs to remove it the capacitor was super hot. I then absolutely couldn’t get solder to flow well enough to clear the hole. I trashed it and this thing had NO PROBLEM clearing that hole today. This thing really does only take a couple seconds to head up. I set it to 310c and added some unleaded to the solder hole and bam wicked the hole clear. Resoldering the capacitor and wire leads back on was no problem. Gets hot fast and stays hot without any problem when applying to a pcp. Tried soldering some thicker braided copper wires together and it had no problem staying to temp that way either. I only planned to test a little and ended up working for a good 45 minutes or more turning it on and off here and there, but did have it on for at least 15 minutes constantly once that I took note off. The handle never got hot, at least not where you should be holding it. If you get your fingertips on the plastic on the other side of the padded area (the lip area, not the plastic you can unscrew) its a bit uncomfortable, but not concerning and not as bad as the Weller was. It does cool off pretty fast after you turn it off, too. You have no idea how nice this is to keep an iron at a steady temp that doesn’t have to instantly scorch flux to stay hot enough to transfer heat while soldering. If this thing lasts a year I’ll be totally happy at this price.

It gets the job done
Bought this knowing full well what I was getting. Lot of inexpensive parts, thin metal iron holder, thin sponge, non-heat resistant power cable, tip loses heat a little quick, etc. At the end of the day, I needed something that would get the job done and this did it. I wish it came with lead free solder, but meh. Easy to use, inexpensive, and it worked.
