Solder? I hardly know her!
Iâm the worldâs worst soldererâ¦apparently thatâs not a word. Doesnât change the fact that Iâm bad at soldering. Iâve been doing it for 40 years now because Iâm a nerd who likes to take electronics apart and âfixâ them and Iâve never been any good at it. I have always wondered if it was because of the soldering iron I was using or the solder or the flux or anything else. Well apparently it isnât the equipment, itâs me because even with this excellent soldering iron and accessories, my soldering looks like something a toddler would be ashamed of. Oh well.The soldering iron is very nice. Iâve always bought the cheapest thing on the rack at Radio Shack so Iâve never had the ability to set the temperature which is nice. It heats up quickly and it helps to have the readout there to confirm it is hot and ready to go. Of course the electrical cord isnât long enough (they never are) so I have to use an extension cord but the little rest with built in cleaning sponge is nice and handy for laying it down when youâve inhaled too much vaporized solder and flux and feel faint. It comes with a variety of tips that also didnât improve my abilities but are nice to have. It came with flux, a large spool of solder wire and a pair of needle nosed tweezers that are so sharp they make me nervous.If you are a casual solderer then this little kit will get you going and keep you going for most anything you will ever need to do, but it wonât help your technique.

Great for a new hobby
I’ve been getting more and more into 3D printing and with that comes the desire to add threaded inserts, be able to use a tip to tidy up a seam, and repair some of the components. I thought this would be a good kit to get started with. I know there are better irons out there and better stations, but for the price this seemed like a good way to have a little bit of everything to get started and see how often I actually use this. I like that it has the different tips, which in my case will be very helpful with the many different projects I hope to utilize it with. I wish that it labeled if the solder was lead free, going to go on the assumption it is not, but would be helpful to know. On the other hand I like that it lists out the temperature it’s being set to. Not sure how accurate it is, but makes me feel I have more control, and certainly gives more options than the ones that have a few set temps.All in all, a great way to get started.

Moreover, a streamlined user manual has been provided.The soldering iron has100W power and adopts ceramic core heating element that can quickly heat up to the set temperature within a minute. This soldering iron has a penlike design. It has heat-proof and non-slip rubber sleeve at the holding part to enhance safety and comfort grip. It is also compact and lightweight. Itâs portable and suitable for DIY projects such as repairing of appliances and welding circuit board etc. Moreover, there is a LED digital display on the soldering ironâs handle. It not solely displays the temperature but also assists in the process of settings such as switching units of temperature, changing the welding temperature and setting password. Iâm surprised it can set a password for child lock purpose.The exchangeable soldering tip allows using suitable tip on various materials and soldering needs. Although the stand is a bit simple and small, this soldering iron kit works well on most small DIY projects. Itâs really suitable for beginner. Even it is seldom to perform soldering works, itâs still good to acquire it as a standby tool at home with an affordable low cost.

It’s a $16USD (at the time of this review) soldering iron that performed better than I expected. I liked the digital display tracking the temperature so I knew when it was ready to use. Additionally, the ability to adjust the operating temperature up or down is a nice feature to have, especially when dealing with some stubborn soldering joints.It’s comfortable to use, at least for the short duration I needed it. I used to do soldering in HS (late 90’s) and I’ve been missing the activity. That, and I needed a soldering iron to fix a part in my truck (which I haven’t gotten to yet), so having this helps out. I did a little tooling around with an old project and this soldering iron performed well, especially being able to switch tips for different needs.For the price and the accessories as part of this kit, you can’t go wrong having this soldering iron for small projects and the occasional need. I wouldn’t recommend it for professional use, but maintained well it could probably hold up decently well.

Fast heating soldering iron with easily changable tips. Good kit for novice.
The Crtsweker Soldering Iron Kit provides almost everything a person would need to start working on electronic projects and making repairs. I was surprised at how quickly the iron heats to its default temperature. I found it especially easy to change tips â though that may change with many heating and cooling cycles â and I appreciate the variety of tips included in the kit. Add a few tools including wire cutters, some wire and parts, heat up the Iron and you’re ready to go. I’m not a big fan of the Pink (Rose Red) color I have but that doesn’t affect function.The included stand appears adequate but I feel better using my old Ungar stand with a cage to secure the hot iron and keep things away from the tip. I haven’t tried any heavy duty work to see if it is able to maintain temperature.
