As far as SMD kits go, this one is pretty easy to put together if you use a magnifier of some kind.

Fun little SMD soldering kit!
Got this kit to practice SMD soldering, got to use my little hotplate for one side, and hand soldering on the other! Was quick to assemble and very cute and fun!

Simple kit, but good SMD experience
This is a pretty straight forward and simple to build kit, no hacky part installations and plenty of space to work on the components.The included single sheet instructions were clear and detailed enough to show me how to assemble it, but not adequate if you have no experience with soldering. There was a QR code for detailed instructions online, but I didn’t check them out.The kit took me about 45 minutes to build. I have lots of experience soldering in general, but very little experience with surface mount work.The tools I used to assemble it include: temperature-controlled soldering iron with a small conical tip, tacky flux in a syringe, angled tweezers, small diameter tin/lead solder, a lighted magnifying glass on an articulating arm.Mine worked right away after installing a battery. The hardest part for me was getting the LEDs positioned as they sometimes stuck to my tweezers. Getting them in the tacky flux to hold them down was practically a necessity. Thankfully there were two extra LEDs (and one extra of each resistor value), but I ended up not needing them.I would say this is a pretty good second SMD soldering project. The component count is pretty low for giving the experience of a first time project, but on the flip side, this makes a nice “hand made” gift for someone after assembled. I gave mine to my wife.

Easy little kit
This is a pretty easy little soldering kit with adjustable lights that is battery powered and wearable.It’s not very challenging so if you’re child is old enough to safely uses a soldiering iron with supervision, they’re probably old enough to put this together with just a little coaching.The end product shows off the home-made aspect of this electronics kit which in turn makes it a conversation piece for them to be able to brag about how they made it.Great little product for under $10.

Challenging little kit if you manually solder it
I went the solder iron route with this kit and was provided with a decent challenge. The components are quite small and will require magnification for most people. I sent an led flying more than once while try to pick and place with tweezers (there are a few extras included).Overall it was a fun challenge to complete. The end result isn’t any spectacular (the leds cycle in a “chase” pattern and can be adjusted for speed), but neat nonetheless.
