Easy to use and works like magic
Never used before and after a few minutes of You tube videos on “You break it you fix it” I fixed car body panels like a pro. Save yourself a lot of money just fix your plastic pieces.

Great kit–if you already know how to use one
This is a terrific plastic repair kit, and if you already know how to use one, you’ll be off and running. If you don’t know how, there are virtually no instructions to help you out. The instructions consist of 3 small pictures that don’t show any detail and some very rudimentary instructions. There are all sorts of additional bits and bobs (screens, sandpaper, sticks of plastic, small wire brush, etc.) that get no explanation at all. This thing is complicated enough that a somewhat detailed instructional booklet would not be out of line, but that’s not what you get. It comes in a nice plastic carrying case that latches closed–and also does not have any space for the ziploc full of bits and bobs I mentioned. So you’re going to want to pick up a little toolbox or something for all the bits and bobs. The actual things (wire heater, smoothing wand thingy) are nice quality.

Very handy kit for breathing new life into busted plastic products!
I ordered this plastic welder primarily to try to repair a heavy duty plastic cargo box that my brother in law accidentally backed his truck over. I’ve never played with a plastic welder before, and had no idea how to use one.The welder arrived with virtually no instructions, so I had to go online to watch some videos in order to figure out what to do. Once I had a decent working knowledge of the basics of operation, I set to work stitching up the cracks in the front of the box, using the provided staples. Once I had it stitched together, I used a bit of the included plastic rods to fill in the gaps. The end result is not going to win any beauty contests, but it returned the cargo box to functional, which is more than I really expected.Overall, this kit is a great addition to my tools- instead of just throwing away broken plastic stuff, I can now hopefully fix it, instead!

Great To Have On Hand
The RX WELD plastic welder is handy to have. I really never knew you could repair plastics this way, so having seen this I thought I’d try it out. I watched a couple of on line videos as the instructions are very limited. I have an orange plastic reel to wind a 50 foot electric outdoor extension cord that I dropped and cracked. So I took the wave staple and using the welder I stitched it up. The welder heated up super fast, turning the staple glowing red, which imbedded into the plastic easily. Once the staple is in, you release the trigger on the welder to cool it. Once cooled you pull back with the welder leaving the staple behind. You then use the included wire cutter to trim off the excess staple. The welder has a head that tilts which is a great feature, as many don’t tilt. The one issue I had was the staples after trimming stuck out a little bit, so I tried filing it down which helped. It would be better to use end cutting flush cut nippers is suppose, something to cut it right at the surface of the material. The second tool is a large heating surface iron that you can use to melt filler plastic rods or just to melt the surface of the repair like to fill in the crack or cover it. It takes a while to heat up, like 5 minutes, but it melts the plastic quickly once hot. As you can imagine it takes a long time to cool down so there is bracket included that you prop the tool on to cool. Or if you need to do something with both hands while the tool is heating up you can prop it on the bracket. I used the orange plastic LDPE rod to fill in the cracks between the staples. It was my first try so didn’t look great, but when I was done it was a sturdy fix. The only thing I wish is that there were more wave and flat staples than the other M and V staples, because I think the wave staple especially, will be used in more applications than the other staples. I wore a KN-95 mask when using this as it generated quite a bit of smoke and you want to make sure the work area is well ventilated. I just wished I’d discovered these plastic welders years ago. I’m very happy with this new repair capability, which I’m sure I’ll use soon enough, and happy with the performance and quality of this RX WELD kit.
