Works well with small work!
Not great thermal mass if you want to solder two 16 gauge stranded copper wires (itâs workable but not great). Gets up to near 800F, so more than I need for small work on flight controllers and RC stuff. I use my 100W USBC fast charger and have yet to try DC current. Great with leaded solder, takes a little work and a lot of flux with non leaded, but thatâs life. Itâs the most affordable pen soldering iron I could find with adjustable temp. Seems a little sketch that first time I plugged it in it just heated straight up without any input from me.

solid portable iron, a little picky about power supplies
I generally use it with a laptop’s power brick. Good overall and I like the color so I can find it quickly. it is slick in the right places to make it easier to handle too.I also like the shape of it, how easy it is to use, but some USB-C power sources go into protection mode during the device’s startup/heatup… so it is a little picky about that. The iron itself seems a bit picky regarding what cables it’ll tolerate… These seem to be common complaints on this device from other reviewers. I think if it had a more gentile ‘heat-up’ option that took a few extra seconds to ramp up–vs pounding on the power supply–it might be fixable with a software setting…. but as it is, sort of a pain… so my 100W PD battery pack won’t run this, but will charge my laptop at over 65W. the dI/dt is just a bit too high.It throws a reasonable amount of heat into thick planes for the size of it. I don’t think it quite is up to my Hakko’s abilities even though the specs for this iron are advertised as superior to my Hakko. Overall, I will keep using it and not replace it anytime soon. Also, I have only used it with leaded solder, so the PbFree folks may have a different opinion about the tip than me. (I think it is fine, but that doesn’t always translate to the PbFree use)

It works.
I powered my with a 12V supply with a1.5A current limit. I can see it needs draws more current at 12V than the 1.5A, it would be good to have a faster charger with 2A capability as in the item description.I like how it has a type c to barrel power connector; this allows me to disconnect it fast without having wires in the way.So I’m using it at 662F which works pretty well so far!

they got me on the wording
iâm fairly certain that i know how to read. i may not be any einstein. but. i can typically read 3-4 letter words & then guess the rest.ok. enough jokes. this ad was mildly if not considerably misleading. borderlines on deceiving ⦠my presumption from having read the listing was that this was a rechargeable iron. typically, when something is said to have a âbattery lifeâ⦠or be it that it is âportableâ it tends to be something that can be charged. as that is what you do when you have batteries. you charge them.well that is just simply not the case here. you still have to plug it in.i had ordered this iron mainly for the rechargeable function & somehat because it had a cool screen. another – it states it comes with 1+4 interchangeable tips â¦. i only got one tip. i got this for the additional tips as well as the portability. the lack of the additional tips is a major issue not just due to the advertised aspect of it but because now this is totally useless. as the included tip is not one i can use for anything. so now i just have yet another solder iron that is chained to the wall but has a cool screen.dragging a 100 foot power cord out to my vehicle which just so happens to be a GM – is not practical & i was hopeful that i wouldnât have to do that anymore⦠iâd say im back where i started but clearly i never left.other than that – it heats up very quickly & the temp is accurate & has a boost feature. it makes precision soldering more efficient in that the controls are on the iron itself. the triangular shaped build of the irons shaft fits more comfortably in my hand than some of the typical generic round designs seen on most all other irons which usually lead to my hand feeling somewhat numb or cramping up after some time of smb pcb or awkwardly located wiring harnesses on a gm solder sessions.overall it sucks that itâs not rechargeable maybe i donât know how to read. but if youâre fine with it being corded than this thing is pretty cool & pretty accurate in terms heating & is quick to heat up & cools fairly quickly which is a plus if youâre like me & if the thing doesnât cool within roughly 20 seconds then you end up with a few fourth degree burns :â)⦠it doesnât cool in 20 seconds but it dissipates the heat quicker than some of my other irons.

Highly impressed
The unit itself is well worth the money! Just remember you will need a power supply. I suggest a 20V capable power supply (which runs upward of 60 USD). With 20 V power supply (or battery) it is at temperature in seconds.

I love it!
I bought this soldering iron being a little skeptical since I’m used to Weller or Hakko. But man I was really impressed with how fast it heats up and how easy it is to use! The display is also very convenient!
