Does it work??
Yes, it works. The plastic sticks lasts a good amount. Only used 2 of the sticks on the 3″ crack. The soldering iron heats up very fast. And melts the plastic quickly. It’s easy to use. And for the money I was able to repair the kayak without having to spend another couple hundred dollars on a new kayak. This repair should last me a couple months. At first I did a blue base with the mesh over top of the crack and melted in the mesh with the soldering iron. After I put a blue base all around the edges and then in the center of it.After that to ensure a good seal, I did a black so I could see where I was soldering to. And went around the base and through the center to give more of a firm hold.I do recommend if you are trying to repair a kayak. This works very well.

Decent for plastic repair
The plastic does not âdripâ off in droves if thatâs what you think this product does. It is also fairly time consuming to use and get a flat surface. In my case, I was not able to use the supplied mesh to use as a binding agent and had to melt the kayak to achieve a bond, however it is not very strong. I used this to build the keel up a bit and the process took about 2 hours with sanding. The repair is far from perfect and I am not sold on a long term bond, but time will tell. Other than that, it works well for a cheap fix.

Works for fixing kayaks
Use this to repair a kayak that had split open. It’s basically a soldering iron with a broad tip, and a supply of plastic rod to make the weld with. It worked well, the repair was almost invisible once I’d finished. I didn’t need the metal mesh but I can see how you could build up plastic to cover a hole with it.

The product did what it promised.
It did smoke some the first time, but it warned me it would. And one does need to use in a ventilated area. (because of the plastics fumes) But it worked fine. I’ll use it out in my garage.

You’ll brand yourself
Worked great to melt over the hole on my kayak. Be careful though, it gets HOT. You will brand yourself or potentially melt another hole into the bottom like I did. Oops!
