Works well. Takes practice.
This tool has saved me $70 on it’s first use. Sealed up a cracked plastic fuel tank. My first weld was terrible. This definitely takes some practice. By the second weld, I was starting to get the hang of it. Definitely don’t push hard on the tip. If the plastic isn’t moving, it’s not hot enough. Also, I’d recommend doing this outside with a fan. I wore an organic vapor respirator, and could still smell the fumes through it. I’m looking forward to future uses with this tool.

Great value. Works great!
It worked great for what I used it for. I used to to repair an engine shroud on my John Deere tractor. The only complaint I have is if you add too much downward pressure into your intended substrate the tip bends because it becomes soft. It must be bent back occasionally.

Works great, may not last very long.
Worked well for kayak welding, but the material weakens when hot, so make sure you don’t press too hard while using, the “iron” portion of the welder bends back and the metal has started to separate. I expect it will only last a few long uses before failing (breaking) off.You don’t need to press hard for most of the weld, but when you’re smoothing down edges at the end it sure helps. Not sure if it is a weak metal or too thin, but definitely makes longevity an issue. The welding rods it came with aren’t super hard polyethylene, but they melted easily and adhered to my kayak quickly. I used a blowtorch to melt and apply them to the cracks, while following up with the welder to smooth them into the crack and on the edges.

Mind blown. Saved me $2k on a bumper repair
I bought this months ago on sale for $20.00. It was a steal and I can’t believe I didn’t buy one sooner or that it sat unused for 4 months. I used it 2 nights ago to repair the support on the front bumper for my Audi A4. It had ripped off and the bumper would no longer attach. I reinforced with mesh and melted it into the backside of the bumper. I then used some of the included material to add additional coverage/smooth things out. It was kind of a tricky angle to work in. I didn’t think I was pressing hard but the tip bent significantly but did not break. I burned my thumb but in no time at all, the bumper was repaired. It is now stronger than it was to start. Honestly, my mind is blown. I’m pretty handy but I’ve never had something turn out so good on a first attempt. I had such low expectations that I didn’t take before pictures. The tip will need to be replaced soon so if you were looking to use on the regular, you might need something designed a better time or the tip damage could be user error. For a one time or 2x use, this can save a bundle. A new bumper with paint and install would have easily been $2000!

Works as advertised! (Within reason)
Money well spent. This is a very inexpensive plastic welder and you will end up satisfied as long as you don’t expect it to do what the $100 models do. Comes with all the necessary tools to save your cracked or broken plastic item. I used it to repair a seam on one of my many Stack-On units that had blown out it’s weld. Basicly an high watt soldering iron with a triangle shaped tip but it does what is expected and I wouldn’t assume it to do the same as high end models.

Quality of materials for the tip
Used this item to attempt repair a large water tank, After reading the instructions and some videos I have seen to patch the crack. It worked great for the first pass but then after letting the iron cool and returning later. I heated up the iron and started to work and the tip broke off just inside the unit. I discovered that his particular iron drills a hole through the tip insert to place a screw to hold the tip in. The metal around the screw has split causing the tip to fall off, very poor quality of materials used in making the tip and the placement of the hole through the tip in this product is a structural weak, causing the tip to fail.

I should have gotten one of these welders years ago.
I should have gotten one of these plastic welders years ago. Countless times I have tried to glue broken plastic together with marginal success. This welder really works. With the included stainless steel mesh, you can reinforce the repair making it stronger than it was originally. Parts that I normally would have trashed, I can now fix! Some people have complained about the tip bending. This will happen if you press down too hard. My advice is to let the tool do the work. Make sure it heats up for at least 5-10 minutes and press gently as the tip melts the plastic. If the plastic is not melting, the tip is too cold. Remove the tool from the part, let it heat up, and then continue. If you do bend the tip, let it heat up and press down on a piece of metal in the opposite direction to bend it back. Wear a good pair of leather work gloves to protect your hands from burns when using this tool.I would consider this an entry-level tool that you would use a few times per year. If you plan on welding a ton of plastic, you might want to upgrade to a heavy duty professional model, but this tool is fine for the home do-it-yourself-er.

Has worked as written
Have used this on a few occasions so far. Where it has been used, items are still holding up with the repair made.

Un buen producto, sirve bien para hacer reparaciónes en plasticos fundibles. Usar protección para olores es recomendable. Lo recomiendo mucho .

Overall, product is good quality. You do need to practice and take time to get the hang of it. This product would be even better if it shipped with 3 heads vs. 1. I would be willing to pay more for that added value. The ‘weak link’ of the product is the head…..do not put too much pressure!

Did a good job but it does take practice to make it look neat

I used this to repair 2 1″ holes in a poly underground water cistern. I followed the instructions and sealed the holes off. Use this in a well ventilated place. The fumes are not pleasant. Very happy with the product and the price.
