Fixed my trash can lid right out of the box without even charging it.
First off, this comes in a great box for keeping it organized and all together. Upon opening, the packages with the staples are clearly marked with what kind and quantity of staples are contained within. The iron itself feels nice and sturdy, easy to hold, and a good fit in my hands. There is also an attachment for plastic solder-melting (If that’s what you can call it). It comes with several sticks of three different types of plastic for melting to fill in voids or cracks etc. There is also a very small tip that is designed to fit over the previously mentioned plastic solder attachment so that you can actually solder with tin/lead solder (circuit board, wires, etc.) If you don’t see this right away, take everything out of the box and look around. Mine was wedged between the protective foam and the box wall. It would be great for light duty soldering on a circuit or installing car audio / electrical wiring.Operation is very simple. Fit one of the staples into the small holes on the electrodes of the tool…they don’t need to be pressed in very tightly as they are only friction held and you want them to slide out easily after using….I’ll get to that. Next, slide the switch on (toward the tips). Place the staple onto the damaged piece of plastic where the repair needs to be made and press the button in the center of the switch that you slid on in the previous step. A light will come on illuminating your work area and the staple with begin to heat up almost immediately. VERY GENTLY press the staple into the plastic at the damaged area and then let go of the button when it is just below the surface of the plastic. DO NOT MOVE THE TOOL at this point. Let the plastic re-harden around the staple. Once it’s cooled off, pull the tool off of the staple and leave it in place in the repair. Then you can get a pair of flush cutting pliers and snip off the “tails” of the staple. Now, you can use the attachment to smooth out your repair area or melt some additional plastic from the supplied rods to help secure everything. And voila, fixed plastic item.The supplied instructions are pretty clear and easy to understand. The tool charges from a USB-C cable (NOT provided).Over all, I’m very pleased with this tool and have plenty of included staples to complete many plastic repairs in the years to come.Definitely recommend!!!!!

Good form factor
Most plastic welders are sized/shaped like small drills/soldering guns. This is justna bit larger than 2 carpenter’s pencils stacked on top of each other. It is much more convenient and surprisingly just as effective.The only negative I have for this thing (and it is quasi-hypothetical) is that the legs of the staples are a bit wider than the forks on the tool. This requires bending the staple to fit into the forks and the stable binding a bit as it goes in.That’s all fine and actually helps hold the staple in the forks so it doesn’t fall out if you point the forks down. The issue I see is that the friction is high enough that in use, the staple may stay with the tool and come back out if the plastic unless you do something to prevent that.I tried a couple of times and this is not an issue with the 0.6mm staples and could be one for the 0.8mm staples (which have more friction than the smaller diameter ones). It happens sometimes but not always and you can control it by releasing the trigger and letting the plastic cool to get a better grab on the staple before you retract the tool.This small one works so well that I wonder why anyone needs the larger ones shaped like soldering guns.Note that to activate the heat/electrical current you have to move the switch forward AND push the switch. The LED light will come on and you may hear a faint, high pitched squeal from the tool when the heat is activated.

Iâm really liking this!
If you are breathing today youâve most likely had to deal with broken or cracked plastic. Iâve been doing repairs on plastic for years with a tool just like this, and they work great. The little staples are good for holding parts and cracks together and adding strength. After they are set and the legs removed you can add more material to seal up where the staple was melted in. Iâve got a large pistol type that must have AC electricity to work. This little unit is so handy and I was honestly skeptical about how well it could do the job based on its size and battery power. Well it sure has surprised me. Not only does it have enough power to install staples but it can also melt new material with the smoothing tip. I did a good sized repair on my daughters bumper and it was going strong till I was finished. And the size was a lifesaver. Had I needed to do this repair with the larger corded unit I would have had to remove the bumper completely to have enough room. With this I was able to just take it partially loose. Time saver, and I didnât have to get out extension cord so that made it worth the cost to me. I definitely recommend this to anyone that repairs plastic.
