The OSOYOO Ultrasonic levitator kit is a scientific apparatus that harnesses the power of sound waves to make small spheres hover in the air, seemingly defying gravity.
This kit is commonly utilized in research and educational environments to illustrate the principles of acoustic levitation and to investigate the behavior of objects suspended in mid-air. It serves as a captivating tool for delving into the science of sound and levitation, offering hands-on experiences that make learning about these phenomena fun and engaging.
Whether it’s for educational purposes, conducting experiments, or simply enjoying the mesmerizing spectacle of objects floating in mid-air using the power of sound waves, the OSOYOO Ultrasonic levitator kit provides a unique and authentic way to explore the fascinating world of acoustic levitation.

The principle behind ultrasonic levitation:
Ultrasonic levitation has been a topic of interest in scientific and engineering research, and there have been various academic and technical publications discussing this concept, such as: Ultrasonics Sonochemistry… And the principle behind ultrasonic levitation is based on the phenomenon of acoustic radiation pressure and standing waves. Here’s how it works:
Generation of Ultrasound: An ultrasonic levitation system typically consists of one or more ultrasonic transducers that emit high-frequency sound waves, usually in the ultrasonic range (20 kHz or higher). These transducers can be piezoelectric or magnetostrictive devices that convert electrical energy into mechanical vibrations.
Formation of Standing Waves: The emitted sound waves travel through the air and can interact with each other to create standing waves. Standing waves are the result of interference between two waves of the same frequency traveling in opposite directions. Nodes and antinodes are formed in the standing wave pattern, where nodes are points of minimal displacement, and antinodes are points of maximal displacement.
Trapping Objects: When small objects are placed within the region of the standing waves, they experience alternating high and low-pressure regions due to the nodes and antinodes of the waves. This variation in pressure creates a net force known as the acoustic radiation pressure. The objects are effectively trapped in the nodes or antinodes of the standing waves and can remain suspended in mid-air.
Feedback Control: To maintain stable levitation, a feedback control system is often employed. It continuously monitors the position of the levitated object and adjusts the frequency and intensity of the sound waves to keep the object centered within the acoustic field.
Soldering Practice Kit: Comes with a USB cable for powering it directly from a computer’s USB port. After assembly, you can make the balls float in the air, and it truly appears as though pure magic. Note: For over 14 age group
The instructions before purchased: If you have soldering experience, this kit is very easy. However, if you are a novice, be aware that the components in this kit are quite small, making the operation a bit challenging. You can consider it as a soldering “practice” kit, it comes with a detailed PDF guide. the circuit board is labeled with component names, making it easy to locate their positions, and we advise a small point iron a magnifier and a good set of tweezers. In short,Take into account that the components are tiny, so think carefully before making your purchase.
Clear English Instructions: Package contains paper instructions with illustrated steps. Follow schematic and product photos to create a levitation kit where balls float in the air after soldering.
Teens’ Learning Experiment: Ideal for teens learning soldering, electronics assembly, and experiencing foam ball levitation. Also suitable for adults honing skills and bonding with Teens interested in electronics.
Soldering kit for beginners:DIY electronic components kit requires you to assemble and welding, If you don’t have any soldering experience, please read the soldering instructions and use soldering tools carefully to avoid safety problem.Besides you will need to have the required tools in order to complete it: a soldering iron, tweezer.

Nice little kit, but very small ICs (2) to solder.
Everthing went fine, except for the 2 tiny ICs that were difficult to solder the leads to the board. Because of this, I wasn’t sure the circuit would work. However, after plugging it in and trying it, everything worked correctly as the photos show. The photo with the bent paperclip is used in place of tweezers to position the balls. I gave the kit 4 stars because of the difficulty getting the small ICs soldered in place correctly.

Missing part
Just got it yesterday, opened it up and started putting together, than I notice a key part was missing. I continued on hoping it would work without it….. and nope. Doesn’t work.

It works! Levitates plastic beads.
Simple assembly on pc board (but surface mounted parts take extra care, tweezers and a magnifier needed). Runs off USB adapter or power bank.

Future project
I’ve chosen this as a future project to hone my soldering skills before embarking on an even bigger one. Everything seems promising so far, and it appears to be quite intriguing!

Came broke
One of the chipsets came burnt out. So it would have been a waste of time to solder the whole thing. Was a good test for intern to trouble shoot, otherwise a 0/5.
