Oatey Safe-Flo Lead-Free Solder Kits include wire solder, flux, abrasive cloth and an application brush to make the soldering job easier. Lead-free tinning flux is a smooth, non-runny paste that applies easily and spreads evenly. Tinning flux allows exceptional bonding and cleans, fluxes and pre-tins copper piping to provide uniform solder flow. The lead-free solder wire has a low melting point and will flow into the seated joint, making it ideal for copper plumbing installation. The abrasive cloth is used to remove oxidation from the copper surfaces prior to fluxing and the brush allows an easier application of the flux to the piping. Oatey products have earned the trust of plumbing professional for over 100 years.

A brand you can trust.
Solder lays nice and is easy to work. I have used this brand for years and trust it with PCB repair and wiring on my electric guitars, Technics turntables, speakers, etc. Can’t go wrong with this. If you suck at soldering, you will still suck, but you will have the highest quality crappy soldering job you could hope for.

Tinning flux, petroleum based
I used this on my first soldering job – shower valve, tub spout, and shower head. It all worked fine and the solders held. I did a few practice joints first. The tinning flux worked well. Apparently you need to flush the flux from your system and itâs harder with petroleum based flux like this. You might weigh whether you want to use water-based instead. I ended up just running a ton of hot water for an extended period of time and hoping that got any extra flux out. I didnât use much flux on each joint so hopefully it all just got used up in the process. Be sure to wipe away extra flux whenever you can. Happy soldering!
