Looks cool but doesnât work
Some of the pins were mangled then it didnât power on once I finished soldering. Instructions were nice but not sure if all the parts were in good working order.

Fun kit to learn on with a few issues
I design and build electronics professionally, and got this kit to introduce my 8yo nephew to soldering. It’s not bad, but there is definitely room for improvement.First, a general tip to anyone learning to solder or teaching others how to solder – do yourself a favor and use leaded solder, not lead-free. Lead free is much more difficult to work with, especially for beginners.I like that the kit has decently clear instructions and that it comes with sockets for the ICs. That’s important because it’s easy to overheat an IC, especially when you are just learning how to solder. You can still damage the holders by melting the plastic, but they are more forgiving than the chips. It would have been nice if they included the resistor color code chart to make it easier to figure out which resistors go where (and to learn how to identify them!). The biggest issue is that most of the ICs and sockets are just loose in the parts bag. As a result, many had bent pins that need to be fixed before the kit can be used. This can be delicate work, and it’s easy to overstress and break off a pin if you are not careful, ruining the kit. A few cents of foam to hold the chips/sockets would have been well spent. It’s also going to be a pain if you are an instructor teaching a class, as you will need to go through all the kits in advance and fix them.I gave this 4 stars instead of 3 because it is a neat little kit, but I was on the fence here. There are other options for teaching. This review was for “MiOYOOW Robot DIY Digital Clock Kit, 4-Digit Robotic Alarm Clock Soldering Practice Kit Temperature Electronic Clock Circuit Board Soldering Learning Kit for School Education and Home Office Use “

Cute Robot Clock kit
I just got this kit and am starting to assemble it.Everything is well marked and it seem well made.i really like that there are no Surface mounted chips. There are 3 easily soldered sockets where IC chips are mounted. The boards are all marked where the components go. One instruction sheet with parts list and photos. Instruction sheet is simple but pretty clear. When finished I will add some Pics.I used to do lot of soldering when younger and put at lot of Heath Kits together. I find these kit very soothing, almost meditation like as you don’t think about your problems while working on them. For the money tihis kit is a bargain!

Multiple issues with this one
Kit arrived with mangled pins galore. Every single IC and socket had more bent pins than straight ones. I had to go through each IC and socket and straighten all of the pins by hand. Two of the three sockets were actually missing pins that had fallen out in the bag and had to be reinserted. But the icing on the cake is that after the project was completed, it would not power on – not even the slightest flicker on the display. I would probe the board to find the failure if not for the fact that the display panel covers the solder joints for the power switch, making it impossible to test without removing the panel. I currently do not own a solder sucker, and wick was not sufficient to get the job done, so further troubleshooting will have to wait for another time.

Decent DIY kit
This is a well-made small and handy electronics kit. It is especially suitable for the beginner or for young electronics enthusiasts. There is an excellent instruction sheet on quality glossy paper with photographic explanations. The only downside here is that it is all scaled-down to a single side instead of two. Thus, the print size is regrettably very small and difficult to read. One other issue is that the IC’s are loose and unprotected in a clear plastic bag. Consequently, every IC has many bent pins that need careful straightening before they can be installed. It is possible they were pushed into a piece of foam initially, but they came loose in shipping. This needs correcting.Be that as it may, this is still a fun kit that works fine, once corrected. There is a lot to learn here for a beginner, and the end result works fine. There is even a battery (CR2032) provided. That is very rare in these kits. Even the programming in the IC’s can be very instructive and interesting, if they are placed in a code reader. They can also be modified and re-coded by an adept student with a USBASP, etc or similar. The bottom line is that this is a fun kit, with a few easily correctable issues. It is also a little overpriced and should be maybe ten bucks, but it is still a very worthwhile kit to make. I like it.

It seems to be quality but disappointing results
I’ve done many electronics kits with my boys and they did most of this on their own. Before firing it up, I checked all the components to ensure proper placement and values. When we powered it on, the display gave an unrecognizable code. As I tried to toggle through the menus, the only thing I could change was a number which varied from 0 to 100. No idea what that function would relate to on this clock. The temperature does work in Celsius only. Kind of disappointing to have a kid not work as advertised.
