Works great
I had a lot of fun with this. Good instructions and works great. You will need a battery to charge it.

Fun to assemble and play with!
This kit was a breeze to assemble, and it works flawlessly; it’s fun to play with, and is a great way for kids to learn how to solder while building something that they will enjoy for a long time.

well made, but not a beginner project in my opinion
this is not an assembly for a child with no experience (not a starter STEM project)this is not an assembly for an adult with no experiencethis is definitely not a project without the proper tools (none supplied, only parts – all parts were there though)at best, I feel one needs at least a modest amount of previous basic exposure to electronic parts (although, a person who rigidly follows instructions could assemble it in my opinion)few “newbies or even novices will be able to position and mount “U4” without a hot air station and solder paste (which I have, but didn’t use to see how hard it might be with just a soldering iron) (you really need a pretty sharp tip on your iron, but it can be done-I put a bit of thermal paste down to make it easier to keep in place)I have good soldering experience – my granddaughter, (14) not so much, although she’s decent at soldering-she would not have liked this-I’ve built a bunch of projects with herI just don’t feel this is a good first soldering training project and you can buy better toys as far as the car goesThe circuit board is harder than some boards, to work with as far as “desoldering” – In one of the LED positions, I put the wrong color – While the circuit board is extremely easy to solder, it’s it was a bit of an ordeal to clear a hole after having been soldered (did not use vacuum system)Then, no battery comes with it (it doesn’t take a really rare battery, but not everyone has 18650’s)This project is really requiring more towards intermediate skill level – definitely not entry level training – as for STEM training, it might be defeating if a child isn’t ready for what they may run in to with this unit – on the other hand, they should get a level of satisfaction if the units runs when they are donethe only thing I found incorrect, was that they provided 22 micro farad electrolytic capacitors instead of 10 micro faradI’m guessing, but I’d say i took me 3 hours or a little more to assemble, but I’m old…

BEGINNER SOLDERING KIT PROJECT…
I’m relatively new to electronics as a hobbyist, so this was great practice for me. It’s a super simple build of a little guy skateboarding with all the necessary wires, LEDs, etc. I soldered everything together as per the CLEAR instructions piece by piece (admittedly I had to revisit a few, but who’s counting). Then, when all the soldering and anything involving heat was done, I recruited the assistance of my little niece/assistant in the final assembly. In the regards, it’s sort of two separate projects in one. This introduces the concept of a chassis, servo motors, lithium ion rechargeable batteries, and a whole host of other ideas to her in a way that cooperative and fun for both of us. In the end you get a little skateboarder and a GREAT memory. Fun and educational, both in the soldering component for adults, and in the final assembly for adults and kids. Nice.

Nice Practice Kit
This is a nice soldering practice kit. It’s a fun design to help inspire a young kid to learn how to solder. This kit doesn’t come with any tools. I would use this as a beginner kit. It would be good for maybe a 3rd or 4th lesson in soldering. Its nice that once done you do have a toy that can be played with.

Fun and fairly easy kit to build.
I enjoyed building this kit. It has one surface mount component which isn’t all that difficult to solder by hand, if you have any amount of experience with SMD using a solder iron (drag soldering with plenty of flux is your friend here). Everything else is through hole and the instructions are clear enough that you shouldn’t run into any issues. The hardest part was the separate skateboard ends (rounded PCBs with larger solder pads) tilted at “30 degrees” (as per instructions). I used a few cut-off lead ends bent as necessary to create a “support” between the parts and that made things slightly easier to assemble. The end result is fun in short bursts. It is IR controlled, and the controls are basic, but responsive. It doesn’t compare to proper R/C controlled vehicles, but you also don’t assemble those at the PCB level. Might be a fun base project to build on with an ESP32 or Pi, if one were so inclined.

Well
This is not for beginners. I attempted to put this together and this was difficult for me. The product comes with instructions and all the parts. There is no tool to use so I had to go buy one. I definitely recommend this product to adults who have stable hands unlike mine.
