Highly recommend this
I bought this for my son who recently moved to the northwest where there is a lot of fishing. I have had this bone puller for decades and love it. I fish for salmon in Alaska every year, catch and fillet my own and this is the best de-boner there is. The key is to spend a little more for the quality of this one and it will last longer and work better.

A Bone Picker That, Well, Picks Bones
If this device could speak, I am sure that it would say that it has a bone to pick with you. And so it does…useful for picking fish bones in preparation for cooking. I have looked at other reviews, and I see various criticisms regarding size too small, doesn’t pick bones, etc. Well what the heck. This tweezer tweezes just fine. The tweezer edges work well together to grab bones. This item is well balanced, and the weight is not a factor if grasped in the center.Overall, a fine tool for picking bones. Performs well, durable, and a delivers a value for the money.A grade of ‘A+’ or five stars. ð

Sturdy Feeling, Grippy Shape, Nice Beveled Large Edges
I did not realize there were tools for the home user to remove fish bones, and had been using my fingers (making a mess of the fish meat), and then needle nose pliers (one at a time removal). I stopped buying whole fish at the local dock or on special at Costco, and just started getting fillets instead, due to the trouble. This Mercer Culinary Fish Bone Tweezer is very effective! I am able to remove about 3-4 bones at a time (salmon), and they pull out cleanly without damaging the surrounding meat, as long as you pull in the direction of the bone. The edges are nicely beveled and they hit together cleanly, but rough enough at the sharp edge (not so sharp you’d cut yourself) to provide some traction for gripping slippery bones. I don’t mean to complain, since this is so superior to what I was doing before, but I wish there was a way to “amplify” the grip somewhat, so that I don’t have to choke up on it to the tip, just to get a little more pressure as my hands get tired. Still, this is an excellent tool- esp. if you like to purchase a whole fish, like I do.

Perfect for Removing Pin Bones from Salmon
Makes quick and easy work of pulling pin bones from salmon. Easy to hold and gets a good grip on the bones without cutting them. I got the 5 5/8″ size and it’s a huge improvement over the needle nose pliers I’d been using. Much faster, much easier, and doesn’t tear up the fish at all. It’s one of those times when a tool designed for one specific purpose is worth it. I just wish I had bought a pair sooner.

Heavy duty
These things work great and way better than using needle nose tools or your fingernails.

Top notch.
This is a sturdy bone tweezer that has strong durable materials. It wonât collapse when trying to pull the pin bones. Itâs also very sharp so it grips the bone well. If there is a downside, you donât get any mechanical advantage like pliers. If you have weak hands you should go for the plier type. Otherwise this is a top notch tool. In fact the tweezer is better than most cosmetic tweezers you find in the drug store.

Great size, works well…
The size works well and the grip was good enough to use even when my hands were oily and slimy from deboning and cutting fish filets…
