Cool light patterns
When complete this little gadget emits a series of cool light patterns as it spins on its bearing, as you can see in the video I’ve attached. The bearing is very smooth and this will easily spin several minutes, changing the light pattern in an unpredictable and surprising sequence. Since this is an SMD project, you’ll need tweezers and patience and either very good eye-sight or magnifying lenses of some sort to arrange the very small components on the board, I use a magnifying headset with light and usually put a small dab of solder on one side of a component, solder it, and then solder the other side. For the microprocessor, I put a small dab of solder on one corner and solder the corresponding lead to hold it in place. Make sure to check the orientation of the processor. I spent maybe an hour and a half putting this one together, and found it surprisingly fun to watch.

good little kit
This was my 2nd SMD practice project, and I found it to be just the right level of difficulty for my skills. The components are small, they are SMDs after-all, but not so small to be too challenging to work with. I believe they are 0805 size. The project took less than an hour, and it worked 100% the first time, with no component re-work needed.I went a bit crazy trying to find the small magnet, after carefully looking at all the parts, I found the small magnet was pre-installed in one of the bearing caps (the part you hold). This could have been a 5-star review, but I ordered 2 kits, and one came with batteries, and one did not.

Fun little project.
This is a simple little SMD solder project. You don’t need a microscope if your eyes are decent. I used a 3x magnifying glass. That let me see enough to hand solder this together. Use flux on one pad and plop a little pillow of solder on the pad. Hold the part with tweezers while melting the pillow. Once you get good at it, it goes fast. I used a tip that is a curved point. You can try hot air but you risk burning the LEDs.This project comes with 2x CR2032 batteries which was nice. Also, wath out that you put the paddle with the magnet on it on the correct side. The side with the components. There is a hall effect sensor on one side. If you put it together on the wrong side, you wont get pattern #2 and #3. Those two patterns are Chinese characters and use the sensor to adjust the display properly.

Pretty cool
Works perfectly. All these parts are surface mount and tiny. I used a lighted magnifying thing and managed ok. Young eyes may not need to do this. Not sure Iâd call it advanced, but itâs not as easy as the components with posts.

I can’t believe I made this!
Awesome flex ðªðð look daddy, I’m an electronics expert! 𤣠Very small parts! Have tweezers and a magnifying glass with plenty of light. Patience is a must!

Poor instructions and quality
Very poor instructions, will cost a lot time to assemble, not recommended

So so small, but fun
I’ve been building soldering kits for years but this is my first SMD kit.Everything is tiny, I ended up needing to use my digital microscope to get it done.

a good beginner set for new soldering engineers
this set is a good way for people who haven’t yet learned to solder to hone their skills on small, precise solders. the kit includes all the parts needed to assemble your own fun LED spinner. the only things you’ll need to provide on your own are the tools (just a soldering iron and screwdriver) and the solder itself. I do wish it included its own solder, as most newer users may have issues knowing what to buy out of the gate.
