It smoked when I turned it on so triple check connections.
Somewhere I made a mistake and it didn’t work but the instructions were clear and concise. Double check work and make sure everything is correct.Nothing bad to day about it. It’s a good learning tool.EDIT 10/4/2024Repurchased it to redo it. Successfully did everything and it worked perfectly. IC chips are still a huge pain so take time on them.The device makes no sound and doesn’t vibrate when it turns on, however it does hold the balls in place. It’s a really cool device. It captures the ball and pulls it in like a magnet. So if nothing happens try to put the ball in first to make sure it’s not working before you think something is off!

Very interesting experiment!
I will explain my ratings: Easy to assemble – I gave it a 5 because for me, it was very easy to assemble, with the correct tools. – You may need the following: – magnifying glass – small fine tipped tweezers – small tipped soldering iron – fine gauge soldering – small Phillips head screwdriver For beginners – I gave it a 5 because I was using this as a kit to demonstrate how to solder surface and through hole components on a PCB. – Itâs great for teaching these two techniques, plus how to assemble boards with screws and standoffs. Value for money – I gave it a 4 because the $14 price is right for Amazon, but you can get these kits elsewhere for as low as $5 each. Which is more in my budget for STEAM classes. – Still worth the money if you are only purchasing one or two kits for evaluation.Additional Notes. – I had purchased two kits. One for me to assemble and one for another person to assemble. I had no trouble understanding any of the instructions. Both kits assembled perfectly, as long as care is taken not to handle any of the components too roughly. Especially the ultrasonic emitters. – The vendor is awesome to deal with. I had an issue with one of the kits and the vendor had no problem sending me out a replacement. As I mentioned the ultrasonic emitters are sensitive and can somehow be damaged possibly during shipping.Remember!! You will need to supply your own 12vac power supply for this project. It is not included.

Intermediate project due to Surface Mount Device components
This is a really fun kit and worked perfectly the first time with a very cool end result!It was my first SMD project, but it was doable with a decent quality soldering iron, some extra flux, a solder sucker and a magnifying lamp. “SMD Soldering Tutorial” on YouTube was also very helpful.It’s actually much faster than through-hole once you get the hang of it!You’ll need a 12v DC power supply (I used the one from my Ansmann battery charger).

Not for beginners and did not work
The chips are much smaller than the image makes them out to be which makes this kit not for beginners. I did complete the kit while following the instructions and it did not work.EDIT: After writing this review they have issued me a refund. I have added a star for good customer support.

not at all easy to solder
consider myself experienced at soldering. but this was so hard to solder. the pins are so small. how can you say this is good for beginners? i don’t think the whole thing is worth it. i wish i had known that it would be a waste to purchase this. i cannot fasten the first piece on. then if i try more i am worried it will burn out the chip.
