Solid Hot Air Rework Station for the Price
The GYYFENT Hot Air Rework Station does a pretty good job overall, especially for the price. The temperature control is reliable, and the airflow is strong enough to handle most soldering and desoldering tasks. It’s got a decent build quality, and the nozzle tips are easy to switch out, which makes it versatile for different kinds of work.On the positive side, it heats up quickly and holds the temperature well, so you can get through projects without too much waiting around. Itâs also not as bulky as some other models, so itâs easy to store when not in use. The digital display is a nice touch, helping you keep track of the settings. On the downside, the cord could be a bit longer, especially if you need to work in a larger space. The fan can also get a little loud when running at higher settings, so it might not be the best option if you need a quieter tool. Itâs not the most high-end station out there, but for the price, it works well enough for light to moderate soldering jobs.If youâre just getting into soldering or need a rework station for smaller projects, this one will do the job without breaking the bank. Just know itâs not built for heavy, industrial use.

Game Changing for Joystick Removal!
I have very recently gotten into electronics repair and tried to remove some joysticks from the board of a PS4 controller. I tried 2 or 3 times with a soldering iron and solder wick but just couldn’t get all the solder out. This made it so easy! It probably took longer to figure out how to put the bracket on and how all the buttons worked than it did to actually melt the solder and pull the joystick out.If you are new like me and want to try this make sure you get some heat resistant tape to cover the plastic parts you don’t want to melt (I used far more than I needed to on the board in my picture), have flux, and have something to hold it up (which can be 3D printed, Jerry rigged, or actual helping hands). I had the board upside down, used a medium size tip, set it to 450â°C and 80% fan, and just moved it in a circular motion over the dozen joints I needed to melt (after applying flux). After a minute or so I gently pulled on the top of the joystick knob down with the curvy tweezers it comes with and it easily fell out. The first joystick had stringy blue plastic on the bottom which is why I use 450â° now because the 480â° or whatever I had was a bit too hot. You can then use the solder sucker to remove the solder or just keep it melted and push the new joystick in with the solder still liquid. Also make sure you clean off the flux. Isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs work great (my picture is before I did that, also don’t let it get too dry before cleaning off or it’ll be much harder). The instructions are very confusing and as another reviewer said seem to not apply to this machine on some things. It’ll take me some time to get used to everything, but at least I figured out how to work it enough to do something. Also the inside of the bracket seems to have hot glue in it which I thought was funny. It does have an auto sleep feature when you rest the gun on the holder which seems to work well. If it hasn’t reached temp yet and it’s placed on there it’ll just pause at the temp it’s at and eventually will turn the heat down if you don’t pick it up again in a minute or so. When picked up it heats up again. It heats up pretty fast too!Overall I think this is a nice hot air station and if you’re having trouble replacing joysticks in PS4 or Xbox controllers with a normal iron and wick I can highly recommend this one. Just be careful and take your time. I like that it comes with a solder sucker, 2 tweezers, and the little prong thing for chips I’ll have to figure out how to use. It is a bit more expensive than other budget ones, so do your research and find one that has what you’re looking for.

Good hot air station for starters
This is a very good starting hot air station. I just used it to desolder a few components from a delicate board. It comes with the station, a suction tool, two tweezers and multiple nozzles. The instructions are not very clear, this seems to be a constant with this kind of products. Some assembly is needed, the holder has to be screwed to the side. There is no indication on the position so I had to guess, first time I did it wrong. Also the instructions state that the power switch is in the back and it is actually on the front. When you turn it on it automatically starts running, there is no control in the gun. When you place it on the holder, after a few seconds it will set to sleep. It comes set in Celsius, in order to change it to Fahrenheit the instructions don’t explain it, you have to read an added card (It took me a while to find out)It runs fine, produces hot air very quickly. You can change the temperature and air flow and can store 3 settings in memory. The only thing I don’t like is that when you are done, you cannot put it back in the box the same way it came after attaching the holder to the side. I had to put it the way I could and remove the top foam cover.

Good temperature control.
I replaced one of the auction-site special hot air kits with this. The one thing I noticed was the temperature control was much more precise – this one stayed at the setting, versus jumping all over. The other positive? Thereâs actually a clear way to shut the thing off safely! Other controllers just make you ramp the temp down manually and force the air to blow until itâs cool.Itâs not necessarily a professional system – it still is a bit fiddly, but the dual display is a good quality of life upgrade.I use this madly for DIY projects and vintage electronics repair, so my SMT work is mostly with new boards, and this works great for that. Iâm not worried about the included solder sucker or not – I use other tools for through-hole desoldering.Overall, a good basic setup that does the job.
