Works as advertised
i have practiced with this kit for about an hour and it worked well. I think these iron type of plastic welders, ‘soldering iron’ with a different tip, are best for thinner plastics. I used it on a 5 gal bucket at its power was about perfect for that thickness on high. For the price point I would definitely by this kit again. lots of accessories included.

Nice plastic welder
I submitted a nice review for this plastic welder, but Amazon rejected it for some unknown reason, so I’ll try again. This is a nice plastic welder, with handy adjustable temperature. It has lots of accessories including an assortment of plastic filler rods and several pieces of wire mesh to melt into your plastic repair. I used it to patch my old plastic wheelbarrow that was cracking. I used it for 2 hours non-stop the very first time, so it seems plenty durable. It takes a little bit of practice to get the feel for melting the wire into your repair and then smoothing the plastic over it but it’s easy to use. It worked well, and I recommend this product. In my opinion it’s a good deal for everything you get in this kit.

Quality could be better
UPDATE: I exchanged the product for one that wasn’t defective as shown in the photo, and it’s a bit brighter as well but still difficult to decipher in bright light. As I’d hoped, the variable temperature is a useful feature, but it’s trial-and-error for the user, because there’s no guidance given regarding the target temperatures for different plastic types. To that end, the included plastic rods aren’t labeled for type as they have been in other kits I’ve acquired. Finally, the strain relief popped off the end of the replacement tool as shown in the newly added photo. Overall, the idea of adjustable temperature is a good one, but quality isn’t overwhelming.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Unfortunately this toolΓ’ΒΒs display is too dim to view in daylight, and once I got it someplace darker it was apparent that some of the display segments were also not functioning. I donΓ’ΒΒt know if it would be brighter overall if it werenΓ’ΒΒt a dud, but between these two problems IΓ’ΒΒm left to guess what the temperature is, and temperature is the reason I acquired this.IΓ’ΒΒve made three other plastic welder purchases in the past, with mixed results, but the one thing that was always clear is that variable temperature would be a huge plus. WhatΓ’ΒΒs good about the kit is how small the iron is and how many tips it comes with Γ’ΒΒ also notably smaller than the previous irons IΓ’ΒΒve gotten, both with fixed and interchangeable heads/tips.

Convenient tool
I like that this welder is adjustable and it came with lots of rod and parts options. I was having an intermittent issue of the display either working correctly or missing parts of the display to know what the setting was so I wasn’t sure exactly what the set temp was and used an infrared thermometer to verify. The unit I received appeared to have been used as it was obvious that it had been heated up several times with some side debris and one of the included tips had material plugging the feed hole. The seller contacted me to resolve the issues with the tool. Excellent communication from the seller and I have a plastic welder that works and functions correctly. Thank you!

GNI Upgraded 150W LED Digital Adjustable Temperature Plastic Welder
I’m really not sure what is upgraded but it was disappointing. The instructions are basically non-existent. There are also no recommendations for what is the best use for the tips or temperature settings. The robs have to be cut apart which is a major pain as well. I also found the temperature was inconsistent and the iron made an off and on buzzing sound.

Really good starter set for plastic welding
This is a great inexpensive kit to start plastic welding. Not only does it come with the plastic welder, it also comes with the plastic rods, the mesh screen, different tips for the welder, and just a whole bunch of other stuff. It’s very easy to use. It has an on/off button and then a “+” and a “-” button, which is for increasing or decreasing the temperature of the soldering iron. The iron has a digital readout of the temperature that it is set to. This is a great starter kit, especially with all consumables it comes with.
