Fun but wrong components sent
This radio was fun to build and works. The issue I faced was the four 100uF 16V capacitors I got with my kit were too tall. Because they were tall and not the shorter ones I should have gotten, I was not able to fit the clear plastic shell around the radio to cover it, so it sits on a desk without the case it came with. If you are reading this, you can order some shorter 100uF 16V capacitors prior to putting your kit together if you happen to end up with the longer ones like I did, then your case should fit without issue.Overall fun kit, shell just didn’t fit due to the length of the capacitors I received in my kit.

Good soldering project
It is and excellent simple soldering projects for kids (10 – 12 years old). Parents can enjoy spending time with the kids, helping them.The manual instructions are hard to read. They can hardly be read.

Works well and is easy to assemble
Built this and got it working first time! Really nice kit. Found a great video on this kit on YouTube channel circuitapps which really helped. I highly recommend this to fellow enthusiasts.

Donât depend on online instructions
Itâs hard to read the paper instruction, so I thought Iâd go to the online instruction. The online instruction have the same name as the paper instructions, RDA5807, but they are not the same, different PC Cards, different parts. The online instruction say to install a 4.7 ohm resistor at the R7 position, there is no 4.7 ohm resistor in the parts I received, where the paper instructions says to install a 510 ohm resistor at R7. First photo is the online PC Card, second photo is the PC Card I received. Third photo is the online schematic, fourth picture is the schematic I received. So I have to wonder, though it looks like an FM Radio, maybe this is exactly what the discription says it is, âSoldering Practice Kit DIY Electronic Kits Digital DIY Soldering Project Kit ISolderStoreâ, and not an FM Radio, and this is why the instructions are different.

Challenging solder experience, but didnât work
The kit looks nice with instructions that have very small pictures with both Chinese and English text, so at there was that, which I appreciated. This design of the PCB had the surface mount components to solder, which was challenging, but a good learning experience. Although I checked all of my welds pretty thoroughly, my competed build gives me static only and the display constantly shows 8.8.8.8, and only flickers momentarily when you push the search button.Iâm not ruling out a mistake on my part as Iâve not soldered many SMDs before but I think I did okay. Will recheck everything. They did give me two microprocessor chips so Iâm not sure if that was a mistake or if they are prone to being bad so they give you a spare.Fun to solder up but disappointing result in the end. Iâll check my solder joints and if I get it to work Iâll let you know what I did wrong.

Useless instructions
While all the components look and did check out with a volt meter, the instructions are very TINY, I have wave length corrected 20/10 vision and still canât see them. The close pin is to show how small they really are.

Great 1st time soldering project
Got these for my kids to learn how to solder. They loved learning how to solder and best of all, it worked when they were finished. They are looking forward to the next project to improve their skills.
