A great little project
A ton of fun, it’s exactly what I wanted in a soldering kit, which was a ton of soldering. Got to try out my new solder and rework station and had a blast, feeling a lot more solid on crowded boards now. Also a lot of fun to watch once it’s done.

Good practice but fragile construction
It’s a good little practice piece and definitely has a lot to solder, but if you have to desolder one of the LEDs, as there are 81 of them, you have to be exceptionally careful. A few holes broke off and now part of the row does not work. Overall it’s a decent little practice piece but take your time of you are just learning.

Ordered two, one doesn’t work right.
I ordered two, one does not work right. Remove the ic’s from one that was working. Put it in the non-functional one and row 5 of LED lights still do not work no matter what I’ve tried. Tested ICs and they work in the good unit. 50% failure rate. All solder joints. Good. Retouched all solder joints again. Still no work. They should send me another free unit.

A very good solder practice kit
A good solder practice kit.Uses two 555 timers and two decade counters, with switches and potentiometers to vary the speeds and patterns, good intro to those timers which are so important.No link to the build guide in my package, but the board is marked with component values so wonât be too difficult to figure out.Tons to solder, no surface mount, so a good 2nd or third kit.For a complete build and demo video, search YouTube for “C.K. builds a good solder practice kit with chasing LEDS from EI Electronic”

The instructions are easy to read plus it tells you on the bord what go’s where which is really helpful as a first time soldering project

It does not have directions
This kit came without instructions. Since it was a gift, it wasn’t opened until after the return window, so now we have a kit that cannot be built because no instructions were included.
