It works great…
I’m not sure if maybe the people who wrote negative reviews didn’t know what to expect out of this less than $10 soldering iron, or maybe they just got a lemon, but I used mine today for the first time, and i couldn’t be happier. HERE’S the thing. I would suggest that you toss the garbage solder and flux that that is included with this iron. It’s complete trash. If you have some other solder, use that. I couldn’t even melt the solder that came with teh set but when I used my own solder, it worked like a champ. This thing heats up super fast, it gets more than hot enough. I personally used it to replace the batteries in four of my RC helicopters that had been in storage for a few years. I used it on the lowest heat setting to remove the old battery wires from the circuit boards and solder the new ones to it. It heats up in about 15 seconds before you can start soldering. This is the best $8I have ever spent. It’s great for small repairs in the field thanks to it being cordless. You can even charge it with your phone charger in your car if it has a USB A or B port.To summarize, this thing worked great for me. Don’t forget to tin the tip before first use.So open it up. Charge it, and throw out the included flux and solder.Make sure the tip you use clicks into place.

Prep ahead of soldering to make the most of this tool
This solder pen doesn’t last long. It’s good for a few connections. A lot more can be accomplished by prepping wires, connections, boards, etc ahead of turning the pen ON. I did not test it but suspect that the hotter the setting, the quicker the battery is consumed so checking what the lowest setting can be used is also likely to lead to a longer working time. Charging seems to take a long time… probably because of wanting to continue working. For handling this pen is excellent. The heat options allow for flexibility to accommodate what’s being worked on. I’m using it to solder 18 and 22 awg wiring and connections with low heat solder paste. Pen and tips have a quality look to them. The storage case/shell is sturdy plastic. The inside carrier is thin plastic. Can’t comment on the solder and rosin included as I’m not using them. I got this to compare it to the butane pens and 110v guns I have. All those are high heat and I have had problems melting parts with them. This pen solved that issue. But the fact that the charge runs out sooner than is functional for the type of work I do… not pleased with that. For what it does, it’s good.

Disappointing Performance
I had high hopes for this cordless soldering iron, but it was a huge letdown. After charging it for hours, it wouldnât hold a charge or even turn on for longer than 10 seconds or heat up. The product is unusable, and I canât recommend it.Avoid this one, there are better options out there like Pinecil!

USB Rechargeable Portable Soldering Iron
Like a toy, works perfect and very handy…. you don;t need to plug it to the wall and work anywhere…. worth the price and put it in your box tool.

Get what you pay for
All in all it works well. Charged fast and heats up quick. However the battery is short lived. If you need it for a quick repair this is handy but if youâre doing long work find something with a larger battery or plug in. 3 stars because of the battery life. If youâre using it on high youâll get maybe 10 minutes tops.

Donât waste your money
Doesnât always work. I full charged it and I tried to solder something but the device only worked for short periods of time before not melting then melting. I donât recommend. Just Get a corded one.
