Melty
Portable and easy to use. Works great for small repairs of broken plastic items. Basically just create an S type weld by melting the plastic edges together.

Better than it appears
This is better than it appears. To me, it looks like a cheap tool that would likely break or fail after a few uses. I still wonder about longevity but so far itâs been okay for the little projects Iâve used it on.Doesnât work as fast as a plug in unit. Heat builds slower but it is effective. The fact that itâs cordless does make it more convenient to use.

Works good
This is a must if you’re into cars. Traditionally I’ve done the zip tie stitch method to fix busted bumpers, but this works way better. If you can get behind the bumper this looks way better than a bunch of holes and zip ties. So far everything I’ve used this on has held up. I’m glad that it has a USB C port on it so that I can charge it wherever and most likely have the correct cord for it.This comes in a nice portable case that protects the welder and makes it easy to throw in a bag to bring to autocrosses or your buddy’s place.Overall, I’d recommend this to anyone who has to repair bumpers and plastic pieces regularly.

Works well, but of limited use
I got this originally because I thought I could repair our trashbin lid with it, that had been cracking worse and worse and so far the city had done nothing to replace it. Of course, just as Murphy would have predicted, when I got the kit the city had finally replaced the plastic bin, (after almost a year!) so my victim for the testing was gone. It’s hard for me to review things at time when I don’t feel that I can test them adequately for their purpose, (hence the s-l-o-w review).Last week I took this kit out to the garage and tested it on a variety of objects, just to get a feel for the tool. (one an old small plastic trashbin that we keep out there). Caveat; I’ve never done “plastic welding” before, so I’m totally unfamiliar with normal proceedings here, except what I’ve picked up from videos, but it seems simple enough. The unit charged fine, heated the “staples”, held them well enough that I didn’t have any problem with them falling out damaging anything, and after a few seconds they seemed to sink right into the material and more or less stay in place. It seems a somewhat learned trick, as the first ones didn’t really stay where I wanted them to, or didn’t really hold right, but I got better with time.It did the job, but wouldn’t be super easy to perform it nicely I don’t believe without some practice. (I’ve noticed a in one cover on my bike, but I’m not attempting to fix it until I’ve had MUCH MORE practice/testing. Some plastics don’t seem to like to be melted and bonded as such, and too thin of an item just was too hard to get a bite into with the staple. (Perhaps some weren’t thermal resins also… just guessing as I used to run injection molding machines back in my teens). The side-cutter/dykes are just about worthless, as they are too small to be really easy to use, leave too much of a sharp point (that is though easy to take off with a flapwheel), and seem pretty dull in my opinion. I used some flush-cutting nippers that I have that worked great, and left minimal staple ends. The other tool is a small utility knife of the kind that I’ve never had much use for except cutting cardboard.I do like this little kit, as it seems a fairly handy tool once you get decent with it, but it also seems for fairly limited operations. The rechargeable/wireless part would certainly be less hassle than having a corded one. The price seems to me very reasonable for such. We’ll see how it lasts and if I get any better with other projects with it, I’ll revisit this review.

Surprisingly effective
I remembered seeing a bumper repair on YouTube with a rather expensive plastic welder when I came across this little gem. My Mini Cooper recently had an unfortunate encounter with a racoon, which left the left corner of the bumper missing the outer aero part, and worse, all the clips that hold that piece were sheered off the main bumper cover. That part is hard to find, and when you locate one it is around $500 and usually in the wrong color.Mounting a new piece to the broken bumper cover required some mcgyvering and this welding tool was just what I needed. With the help of a few vise grips, I placed the new part along the edge of the bumper cover, lining it up in the position it usually sits after snapping into the non-existent tabs on the bumper. Then the tool was fired up and about 15 zigzag staples were buried in the plastic of both parts, bonding these pieces together better than in the OEM assembly. A little flattening of the rough plastic with a regular soldering iron followed, plus a coat of JB Weld plastic epoxy just as insurance that the staples stay in place. Good as new!I was surprised how fast this tool heated the staples, even with just a half charge in the battery. And even after about 25 stapes of testing and bumper repair, the battery level had not even changed. The little work light at the tip of the tool body made work easy in dark spaces. The amount of staples included will last a long time, and I am sure more of those can be located should they be needed. Two thumbs up for this tool. A great addition to any garage if you work on your own cars. I am sure there can be household repairs that can benefit from this as well.

It’s A Really Awesome Tool to Have
This is one of those tools that you didn’t know you needed it until you have it and a whole new world of possibilities opens up. I’ve never welded anything in my life and got this tool anyway. First, it is nicely packaged in a hard case with all the tools and materials you need to start welding plastic. The cutter leaves a little to be desired, and that’s okay because it does cut the welding staples with a little strength. I had a plastic chew toy that my pup destroyed and it’s been sitting in a drawer waiting for me to take the time to glue it back. I tried this for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is and how well it works. Just put the staple in the gun, make sure it’s all the way inserted, put the staple onto whatever you’re trying to fix, press the trigger and it heats up quickly. The plastic melts around the staple so the two sides are joined together with the staple now engulfed in the plastic. I used it a little differently for my dog’s toy, same concept though. Cutoff the excess staple (and repeat of the crack is longer) and you’re done. Really good tool with lots of uses.
