The Blazer SI-100 Excalibur, multi-purpose, butane torch and hot air soldering kit is a tool kit that provides tools for soldering, hot air blowing and torch flame needs. The torch creates a precise flame emitting from a nozzle head, allowing direct heat application to an object. It is commonly used for detailed purposes such as brazing, plumbing, soldering, heating, jewelry making, and culinary, dental, and lab applications. Tools within the kit are also used for electronic, automotive, woodworking, lapidary, and general maintenance.
The SI-100 is a multi-purpose tool kit, providing a self-igniting and cordless soldering iron, hot air blower and refillable butane gas torch. The set includes five, interchangeable tip choices: reflector, hot air blower, knife, one 3.5-millimeter chisel and one 3.0-millimeter diagonal. It also comes with a wrench, sponge, and one tube of 60/40 coiled silver tube of solder. The torch features a child-resistant mechanism, and an instant ignition switch.
The torch houses a piezoelectric ignition system, which is based on a pressurized molecular reaction, and requires no electric connection. Piezoelectric energy occurs when the trigger is activated, releasing a small, spring-loaded internal hammer that strikes a crystal, producing a spark and resulting in gas flame ignition.
With a maximum flame temperature of 2,500 degrees F, the torch has a 7.0-gram gas capacity, weighs 4.9 ounces and is 9.0 (l) inches. The case measures 10.25 (l) x 4.38 (w) x 1.5 (h) inches. This product is intended strictly for use in professional and industrial environments. In accordance with federal regulations, home use of this product is prohibited.
Since 1985, Blazer Products has created an array of professional and industrial tools and equipment. Located in Farmingdale, NY, the company manufactures a variety of torches and ultrasonic cleaners. Blazer Products is known worldwide for its original micro torch products.
The SI-100 kit comes in a hard shell carrying case, and the torch operates with a standard butane canister (sold separately).

Excellent Tool!
I almost didn’t buy this powerful torch because so many people complained of difficulty in learning how to use it, and that it didn’t come with an instruction manual. It does come with an operating instructions sheet that is fairly clear, IF you’re good about reading instructions! I would highly recommend the Blazer torch because it is a quality tool and it gets the job done–plus, it is very affordable. I’m a silver/gold smith and use it for soldering. It is hot and quick.I didn’t know “CR” on the product description meant, ‘child resistant’. If I had known, I would have purchased the S1-100 instead. No problem though, I’m getting used to it!Some things to know if you’re considering purchasing this torch:*Do not buy this torch if you are not experienced with torches. The end of the unit gets very hot and does not cool down quickly. (My old torch does). Using common sense will keep you from getting needlessly burned.*This torch has a child-resistant lock that can be tricky to facilitate, until you get the hang of it.*In order to ignite, you must:1. Set the Flame Lever Length to the middle (you can adjust as needed)1. Trip the RED child-resistant lever UP (this disengages the lock)2. Pull back on the Red lever (this ignites the fuel)3. Push the Gas Flow Knob to Lock (this keeps the flame on while in use)4. When flame appears, adjust with Flame Length Lever. That’s all there is to it!And, if you want a little extra info before buying, check out this video: […]

Excalibur Butane Torch set
This feels really good in your hand. It is well made and easy to operate. This is not a toy that feels like it may fall apart on you at any minute, it will last. I had a Weller, and this one measures up to my old Weller easily. If you’re looking for a nice little solder/torch rig, this one is for you. I’m a jewelry designer who like to work on circuitry, and this does either well.

Handy for soldering jump ringsâ¦once you figure out how to turn it on (instructions below)
Easy to use after you get past the initial frustration of “how the heck do I use thing thing?” Big miss is lack of instruction book that explains how to turn it on and what the various tips do. 30 minutes spent googling didn’t turn up much help. Other miss is that the tip that comes attached out of the box doesn’t have its own home in the case. So you’ll need to reattach it whenever you store itâ¦.kind of annoying if you never actually use that tip.If you make jewelry, the hot air tip is a fantastic attachment that allows you to solder little things like jump rings without the pickling or tumbling steps. Not only does this save time/money, but protects more fragile things that you may not want to subject to those steps. The big problem here is that Excalibur has failed to recognize a big secondary market that they have. Not every person who buys this product are professional soldering tool-savvy people. There are a bunch of people who, like me, don’t know our way around a power tool, but would like to use it for its jewelry benefits. I know it’s not just me – 1 review I found on a jewelry supply site that also sells the same product mentioned that they still haven’t used it, because they never figured out how to turn it on. So Excalibur, if you stumble across this, please take note. Even something on your website would be helpful. Here’s what I wanted someone to tell me:Which tip to use: the hot air tip will allow you to skip all those steps above. You can also use no tip and get an open flame, but then you’ll need to pickle, etc. The hot air tip is the one to the far left (excluding the wrenches). It’s the one that you can see all the way through. How to turn it on: With your thumb, roll up the red round part, so that the piece that hangs down clears the black plastic below. Then pull down on the black bit with your thumb, so that the black plastic above meets the black plastic below. If you hear just the sound of air whistling softly, you didn’t get it far enough. Try again. You should hear an extra sound of it burning. (And see the orange flame if you’re using the hot air tip.) After you hear that sound for about 3 seconds, push the red lever to the left. (Keep holding your thumb down.) Then with your other hand, slide the black lock to the left. Now you can release your thumb and use it.

Works Great for shaping/cutting glued on Neoprene!
Great product! But the product operating instructions are poorly written. Think of it as an IQ test- If you can figure how to turn it on, you pass the test. Once you have figured that out, it’s easy to use and a well designed product!

Dead Within 45 Days
I agree with the other reviewers who describe this unit as difficult to use. I should not have to do an internet search to figure out how to use the thing. More importantly, it was simply dead within 45 days. The flame gradually grew weaker and weaker and finally died. (This was not a re-fueling issue; I never had any problems re-fueling it.) If you are looking for a butane torch, I would recommend just skipping this item and going directly to the Blazer GT8000 Big Shot Butane Torch, which so far has been reliable and easy to use.

Great tool for lab work
I have a lab and this torch works great . The tank is large enough so you refill less often. Torch takes a few seconds to learn to strike it but overall is a great torch.

Size is easy to handle and Versatile
It’s a small torch that can be held like a pencil or a magic marker. And it’s easier to manipulate.

Excellent professional product
I use this butane torch as part of my everyday job as an aircraft mechanic. Most commonly, I use it to shrink heatshrink, as well as solder every now and then. (I tend to only use this instead of a regular soldering iron when I am in a tight or inaccessible spot). This torch is exactly the same as the one in many other sets; they all just have different names on them and, accordingly, different pricetags. This was the cheapest one I could find, which is what drew me to it. I am not at all disappointed. I go back and forth between the hot blower tip and the soldering tip; changing between them is very simple and straightforward.I have not used the knife or chisel tips, so I can not speak to how well they work.

Flame would not ignite. On/Off switch broke within an hour. When I contacted the vendor they said I would have to return it for “Repair” and it would take 3-4 weeks.
