The little red LED as a tune indicator, when it is on, it means that the current signal is strong, or it already has hit the radio station. At this point, turn the knob RP1 lightly until you get the sound quality that you want, which is convenience for choosing stations.
For better sound, the VT-16 radio kit has 2 nice 8Ω 1W internal magnetic speakers, which is anti-interference, and longer-lasting magnetic. When you tune it up for the first time to receive a radio station, this little guy’s stereo voice may surprise you!
If you are a really new starter on the electronics, you might meet some challenges on soldering job, it is ok, please don’t worry, we tried our best to prepare the full color paper instruction manual, and a PDF version of the detailed instruction manual. Hope it helps!
No matter that you want to use the batteries for easy moving, or use the DC 5V power core for saving them, you always have choices. Please use high quality USB power supply, such as a brand mobile phone charger, power bank, etc. Poor quality power supply will seriously affect the receiving effect.
Hope you like the VT-16 AM FM radio kit. Enjoy!
2 Kinds of Mode – AM and FM, give you more choices. Two IC chips, the main IC chip and related configuration of the radio kit have been fully upgraded, which means the radio effect would be much better.
A Great STEAM Project – Complete parts kit and full color instruction manual, let you or your kids can learn how to solder, get familiar with more components, learn radio schematics, and more. Not only is it a great soldering project kit, it’s also a really cool radio kit when done!
Stereo Effects – Yes, it comes with 2 speakers (8Ω1W) and has stereo! Flick the silver knob and are you ready to enjoy some great music from the blue stereo radio kit?

A quality kit
This kit will provide an enjoyable couple of afternoons to complete. Assembly mostly straight forward (yes, a couple of minor head scratchers) but the pcb is well laid out making for easy soldering. Most importantly, it works… unlike some other lower quality AM/FM kits. Study the pictures for component placement clues if you are unsure. Not a lot of volume, but with only 3 AA batteries for power, expectations were not high anyway. Still, the signals were clear and readable without strain from many stations.

A very good beginner kit!
AM/FM radio, this one is really oriented for first time builders. Very open circuit board, not too many parts to install, and a fine radio when youâre done. One surface mount part, the AM FM tuner chip, already installed.Would be a great first kit, youngsters may need some help with speaker mounting. For a full build and demo, search YouTube for “C.K. builds an AM/FM radio kit from Vigurtime, v1.6”

Good, but bad
Didnât work. Probably due to poor soldering technique.

Feel like I missed something.
All these reviews say the directions for putting this together are detailed and easy to follow. I feel like Iâm missing something. The directions I got are not detailed at all. They just start out saying solder all these things: am I supposed to solder them together or solder them to the board or both.It reads like Iâm supposed to know all this already. I got this to learn from starting principles. However, it seems as if itâs more of an intermediate level thing.

It might not work at all in your area (USA-California)
I love the idea, and I totally disappointed when it was not working at all first. I bend it over a little bit and took the chip on an off a couple of times, and started making some noise. Only if I bended a little bit the whole board away from the speakers.AM does not work at all in my area. One of the speakers is not working either. It could be my unit. I loved the idea, and spent almost an hour and follow a guy in youtube step by step, but still is flimsical, and not reliable unfortunately. I am not sure if this is what it is, or it should work a different way. Bad luck I guess.

Nice project, well-designed, sounds great!
Very nice project. Nice circuit board. All components were included. 2 negatives for me. The first is that the soldering required both low wattage for the small components and higher wattage for switch and potentiometer cases. Also the leads to the AM antenna are long and hard to conceal. They need to be out of the way so kids don’t pull on them. Would be nice if they were glued down better to the ferrite rod so they could be concealed before soldering in. You could also do that yourself.

Be sure to go over your soldering.
I did not go through ever solder point, hence radio blew a wall wart and didn’t work.

Excellent learning project
I got this as a Christmas present for my daughter. We spent a wonderful afternoon putting it together and she was able to do all the soldering with some guidance from me. Assembly was straightforward with good instructions and the end result was very nice. I recommend this kit.

I absolutely love it!I learned soldering with this project. After numerous attempts, I learned how to debug problems and finally, after about 20 hours of absolute fun, made it work. This version requires no modifications and works in North America. I’m hoping for a shortwaves version!
