A big improvement over using a staple gun & a cigarette lighter!
I didn’t have this tool yet and was joining some ABS plastic body panels on my vehicle that was damaged when I backed into a dumpster. I had fixed the worst part by using a staple gun to start the staples in the plastic, heating them with a cigarette lighter and pushing them into the plastic to join the crack/split in the plastic. It looked awful – even though I have body filler to hide my terrible work, I waited to get this hot staple welder – and was glad I did!There are 4 big bags of the ‘wavy staples’ included that fit the iron perfectly and ARE SO EASY TO USE that I just about cried. You don’t even have to try very hard to get a very good bond with this kit! The wire (when heated) just sinks right into the plastic…release the trigger & hold steady for a moment and then pull the gun off of the staple. Just like that. The wire is easy to trim off with flush cutters and blends out easily with a DA sander.After I get this bumper primed and painted…know one will know it was damaged.This kit is what you need to stitch plastic together – do not doubt how much you’ll get done and how easy it is to use. I’m excited about how good everything turned out.This is an awesome device that is worth twice what they ask for it. It’s an incredibly good value and a fantastically useful tool!

Produce very strong joint.
This Wrdlosy 220W Plastic Welder, Hot Stapler works well but takes a fair amount of practice to keep from puncturing through the material. The hot wires melt into the plastic and when cool produces a very strong joint because it contains the steel wire. The joint is way stronger than with glue but ugly. A plastic melt tool and smother is also needed to make the fix look ok. To use this you heat the wire, press it into the plastic, and then hold without moving until the plastic cools enough to pull the gun away from the wire “staple”. It is not a real quick process. The staple legs must be cut off with either flush cut pliers or an angle grinder. The angle grinder is hard to keep from damaging the surrounding surface. I did not try flush cut pliers because I did not want to ruin the pair that I use for electronic work.The tool would be better if it had a heat controller. I did order separately smoothing tips (Allturn 5 pcs Plastic Smoothing Tips) that fit on the gun but they did not heat up enough to melt the plastic so were a waste of time. I will get a tool that is designed to melt and smooth the plastic.

I think this thing is great
Honestly…i wanted to hate this. It was so much fun. I can’t believe it works. I had some plastic embroidery frames that snapped and I couldn’t bring myself to toss them so after all this time, i figured they were the perfect test for this thing….It worked so flawlessly, barely a learning curve but i recommend if you’re going to use them on something that flexes like an embroidery hoop to get all the sides, even if you don’t see a crack. For thick plastic you can fire it up with the staple at an angle and then as it heats bring it up so it closes up the hole made from the staple..if that makes any sense.I love this thing, just don’t try it on acrylic plastic..it will just burn and make alot of smoke.

The staple legs don’t snap off! No cutter in the box.
I used 8 stapes of two different shapes to repair a three-inch crack in the lid of a ten year old toolbox. The good news: The lid is now repaired, far better than any glue, solvent cement or epoxy could have done. Metal staples span across the crack, ensuring that the crack doesn’t spread. See the photos accompanying this review.The bad news: The video in the product description shows the staple legs snapping off easily. Completely untrue! The only way to remove the legs is to use a flush cutter, and even then you will likely end up with very short sharp points sticking out. Again, see my photos. I may grind these off with a Dremel tool, but that’s not what the product promised. Also the instruction sheet provides little guidance.I almost gave this two stars for fraud, but it does solve a problem for many people. Buyer beware!

Very cheaply made and the probes are too close together for the included staples
The probes you connect the staples to are much too close together to work well. I tried to gently pry them farther apart, but they are not soft and plyable metal, they are very rigid and I was afraid I’d break it if I tried harder. It is possible to get a staple into them by slightly bending it but it’s very fussy and inconvenient to have to do that.The welder itself is made of very cheap plastic and the seems start to spread apart if you flex the probes at all. There is also something rattling around inside.The welder did work though and it heats up in seconds, and doesn’t get hot enough to burn the plastic. Other than the difficulty attaching the staples, the rest of the operation was straight forward, fast, and easy.This would work for a few projects, but this doesn’t feel like something that will last a long time.
