Works as advertised, just remember not to penetrate the plastic when mending
I ordered this to repair the fairing on my motorcycle after I dropped it and broke a large piece off. The plastic welder included a LOT of the metal binding pins in multiple configurations. I had ordered one a while back to repair friends car bumper and misplaced it. This kit is much more comprehensive. I did use some JB Weld bumper repair on the break, but honestly, the plastic welding would have been enough. One point of caution – if repairing a material that is thinner than a bumper avoid the urge to really seat it deeply. Go a little shallow and then use the flat blade to smooth out the S-shape area that is displaced and rises up. If the area is painted, try to mend from the inside. If part of a lower, unpainted bumper you can work from the exterior. Works pretty good.

The Chickanic YouTube channel recommended this little plastic welder and for 32 bucks I figured what the heck Iâd try it. Well, sure enough this thing works pretty good, and seems applicable for many applications.

Easy to use and versatile
Plastic welding is a skill I should have learned a long time ago. You can only do so much with adhesives and epoxy. Correctly embedding the staple is the key to a strong weld. I found this welding gun easy to use. It only takes a few seconds to heat up the staple and not much effort to implant it. In fact, using light pressure is the key otherwise once the staple goes through your material it’s game over. For $25, I highly recommend this tool as part of a DIY arsenal.

This plastic welder/fixer has worked as described. I’ve used it to repair cracks in the bagger catcher on the John Deere lawn tractor and on the pull out veg/crisper drawer shelf on an old fridge. Thanks Chickanic (YT) for bringing this tool to my attention.

First time ever using such a product and the results were amazing. Stitching 2 pieces of side panel together and for first time use I was super impressed. It does get hot so use caution and I learned a little tip when you are finished give it a slight twist then let go of the trigger, let sit a second then remove. Side panel was pretty solid, will see how it holds up. Worth the money again just be careful it gets hot so quickly it will melt right right thru motorcycle side panels easily.

It was delivered in time, but I was a bit disappointed to find the case broken. One of the hinges was completely destroyed and the inside of the box was a total mess. The knife was damaged too. But as everything else seemed to be okay, I decided to give it a try on a broken plastic box. And it worked really great!The gun is quite well-built, it is not very heavy and comfortably sits in a hand and it heats up really fast! Obviously, it needs some practice as it is quite easy to go too far. You also need to choose the proper staple size, but the whole process is quite easy and forgiving as you can always adjust your staple position as long as you don’t cut its endings. As for the cutting I was not impressed by the included side cutters so I used my rotary tool instead. But if you need the clean cut I think a decent end-cutter can do the job even better. The same for the knife, it feels cheap and I don’t think I’m going to use it. Actually, I would prefer them to invest better in a decent case for the gun with a staple organizer rather than adding these junk cutters and knives.All in all, it is a very useful and fun-to-use tool, highly recommended.
