【 Cake Tower Soldering Kit 】Inspired by the concept of the cupcake tower, we’ve embarked on an exciting new soldering project: the Cake Tower soldering project. This innovative endeavor features a square circuit board as the base, supporting six layers of circular hollow circuit boards that serve as the cake stands. LED lights are ingeniously arranged to simulate cupcakes, creating a visually striking and novel design that instantly captures attention.
【 Happy Birthday Music 】Pressing the button adjacent to the buzzer triggers the buzzer to play the “Happy Birthday” song, adding a delightful touch to the Cake Tower soldering project. This feature makes it an ideal birthday present for your daughter, son, partner, friends, and more. Additionally, it can serve as a charming centerpiece on the table, enhancing the birthday celebration ambiance and creating lasting memories with loved ones.
【10 Lighting Effects】Upon being powered on, the LED lights on the cake tower will initiate flashing. We have incorporated 10 distinct flashing modes, along with knobs for adjusting the flashing speed. With 5 vibrant colors of light and various flashing modes, this feature enhances the ambiance of your party, offering a unique and immersive experience.
【2 Power Supply Modes】For convenience, a USB power cord is included, allowing you to simply plug it in and turn on the switch to illuminate the cake tower. Additionally, the cake tower comes equipped with a battery box at the bottom, accommodating 3 AA batteries (not included), providing portability and versatility. Whether powered by USB or batteries, you can easily take it anywhere you go.
【Nice Present】If you’re seeking to create a truly personalized present for a friend or family member, the cake tower soldering project is an ideal choice, particularly as a birthday present. Its unique combination of creativity and functionality makes it a perfect present option.
Customers find the soldering station easy to assemble. The main board is straightforward with through-hole components, which are easier than SMT or surface-mount components. The instructions make component placement clear, and the kit includes standard thru-hole components.

We had a blast. Very good soldering kit for novice skills.
I like building little projects and I have some kids at home who like to solder things together. This one is all through-hole components which are easier than SMT / surface-mount components that can be a little tricky sometimes. My only complaint is that my phone showed nothing when I tried to download the instructions via the QR code on the included parts-list. However, I noticed that the parts-list says that you just populate the components on the PCB according to the parts list’s designations, and that worked. This is what I did:1) I followed the silkscreen on the PCB for component location and orientation. a) Checked the polarity of the LEDs. The shorter lead goes into white colored hole. b) Checked the polarity of the IC and transistors.2) Once the base / square PCB was assembled, I tested it. It would be easier to fix without the other layers soldered on, but I had no issues with the base.3) I used a playing card to get the stem of the cake square. Soldered just one pin, checked and tweaked, then soldered the other pins on both sides. I almost forgot to screw the battery case on the bottom before adding the layers…that would have been a mistake, but luckily, I noticed before it was too late.4) When adding layers. I put solder blobs on the pads on each cake layer. I then slid the layer on and past the solder point…see photo. Next I put solder blobs on the pads on the stem, lifted the layer up and soldered one pin. Checked for square with a card, tweaked, and soldered the rest. I made a mistake by not following the “front” marker on the PCBs but I caught it early and fixed it.5) I checked each layer, powering it on as I went. I found one bad Yellow LED but the kit has a replacement for everything. See photo of completed project with photos.Things I liked:-An extra of every type of part…except the IC.-Everything is through-hole. But a fine tipped soldering iron would still be helpful.-The music is mute-able.-2 ways to power it up…3 AA batteries or USB. I tried both and work fine. I used NiMH batteries and they worked fine; just a little dimmer on the LEDs.-Very little that I could screw up.I just needed a soldering iron and a little pair of wire cutters to cut the excess leads. I needed a magnifying glass to check the work, but it was fine for my kids. It took us just a couple of hours to solder and assemble; so it is a real good soldering practice project and I enjoyed it very much.

A challenging kit
Kit contains a lot of standard thru-hole components. Resistors, capacitors, transistors, LEDs (Lots of LEDs) along with switch, connector, buttons and an IC in a socket. The main board is fairly straight forward but does take a bit of time. The instructions make component placement obvious. After building the main board they ask or you to test it, and mine worked as expected. The next step is building the rings, and it is also a lot of parts, LEDs, and goes fairly smoothly.Building the cake takes some skills. Put a ring on, solder it, make sure it’s level. It’s an interesting method, build up a pile of solder between the two boards. 6 layers, 8 joints per layer. A bit of concentration required.I started this with a neighbor kid that we have done several kits together before. They always insert all the components and then I verify and then they solder everything. The layers were a little frustrating to start so I did the first one and the remaining we did together. Having a few extra hands definitely made it easier. It’s nice that there is two options for power up the cake, the batteries last a long time (we have not worn out a set yet) and make it portable. You could put it as a cake topper or just as a center piece on a birthday table.if you are looking for a little more channeling kit I would recommend this one.ONE NOTE: There will be extra parts, don’t think you missed something. it’s intentional so if you happen to drop one item you can still finish the kit.

Enjoyable and time consuming
Normally I hate building these tower type things, but I really enjoy the calm I get when I do some soldering, so I figured I would give this thing a go. So first off, the picture shows kids….. maybe they’ll enjoy touching it, I don’t know, but there isn’t a chance in the hot place they’ll be able to build it or help in any way. Figure you will need hours to complete this by yourself. Like maybe 4 if you’re not super experienced. There are a lot of components so it’ll take a bit.Pros: Soldering is sooooo relaxing. You’ll be able to zone out for quite a while with this thing. Not a ton of experience needed (but probably not for beginners.) This kit came with a usb power cable and also a battery pack if you’re in to the whole mobility thing. Extra parts were nice, although you really shouldn’t need them. All through-hole parts, so you won’t need much equipment. Soldering iron, wire snips, needle nosed pliers to straighten some pins, and some blue-tak to hold the components while you solder.Cons: Towers in general are just a royal pain to build. Soldering 90 degree joints is NOT for the easily frustrated. If you’re a perfectionist, good luck.

Next level circuitry
My son loves to play with his snap circuit set, and this is the next level for him. It looks cool and is a real soldering kit. What a sense of accomplishment to do an actual circuit board! Good educational value.

This is a great project for practicing solder skills
This is a good project for anyone who wants to improve their soldering skills with real circuits and parts you can test as you work to verify you are not shorting things out. This project starts with lots of opportunities for soldering components that are close together, as well as very numerous solder points. The bottom board has over 150 points. The entire project must have over 300. So lots of opportunities to practice. There are also a lot of more challenging joints that are both electrical and structural, and close together so they challenge your technique as you must keep each point from shorting out the next one.The finished “cake” is fine, the lights blink and a little speaker plays a very tinny happy birthday tune. But really this project is about the process not the end product, at least that is what is was for me. And it was a worth while project to do.
