Great to learn soldering
Love this project to teach soldering to people as it has enough parts for a person to get comfortable with soldering. Some projects have much fewer which doesn’t give a new user enough practice to get fully comfortable with it. Would highly recommend for anyone learning how to solder.

Well made.
I’ve ordered and built several of these to give to friends for Christmas. Putting the two halves together was a little tricky, but they all worked when I finished them and the soldering is a lot of fun. One suggestion, instead of having people screw the battery holder to the base, just include some double sided foam tape to secure the battery. It’s a lot easier. Those little screws are very hard to manipulate.

Buyer beware
This DIY kit comes with no assembly instructions. Just a bunch of parts. Don’t try to assembly this unless you are well versed in LEDs and capacitors. Soldering is easy, battery holder is very cheap and doesn’t hold the batteries easily. Typical China crap.

Not for beginners
The skill set for this is certainly beginner soldering level, but with incomplete and incorrect instructions, no available instructional video, and poorly identified parts, this will take quite a bit of effort that should not have been necessary. Unless you have the resister color codes memorized, you are going to have to look them up to see which is which – they are not identified in the kit. Even then, the included pieces do not exactly match the packing list OR the instructions, either the instructions here in this Amazon listing or the ones that came in the box or the ones they emailed me when I asked for them. Close, but not exact. And the parts are cheap – the included on/off switch did not work, so I just soldered the switch closed and will remove the battery or unplug it to turn it off.In the end, fun and it got me back in touch with my younger days of kit-building, but it is going to take as long to figure out what to do with the mess of pieces than to actually solder it together. But, it’s done and works and I’m not sorry I got it, but won’t do this level of price/quality again.

Assembly instructions were confusing or non-existent.
The paperwork which came with the kit included only a schematic and a parts list. There were no step-by step assembly instructions. The schematic and parts list called for 22uf capacitors, but the capacitors actually provided were 47uf. The assembly instructions found in the Amazon description of this kit were sketchy and confusing. Nevertheless I was successful in assembling the kit, and it worked fine.

Neet little project but had to search for insructions.
This turned out great but I couldn’t locate the instructions on the website that was mentioned so I had to search the internet and found some for the same product but different name due to it being a different seller but we know that they’re all the same chinese product with a different name. There is a polarity on the on/off switch so don’t overlook that. The LEDs appear white but they are multicolored and change color when it’s on.

There are better kits on Amazon.
1st kit that came had missing parts. Second kit was fine. No spare parts of any kind. Here are my main reasons for a low rating: – missing parts/no spare parts – PC boards do not fit together at all – much sanding was required – instructions are poorly translated (polarities of LEDs are misrepresented, color bands on resistors are faded/chipped off – typical Chinese kit quality, no pictures, resistor IDs are incorrect on instructions – battery holder cannot sit flat against PCB without modificationAside from all of those things, it does come with a USB cable to power it which is nice to save batteries. It can even run from a PC’s USB port or phone charger. Not all kits have this cable. The better made kit is one from DingDong, but it does not have a cable.

Not as good as other vendor’s kits
The same design as other vendors, since they all come from China. This kit, however, was missing the 330 ohm resistors. The required 10,000 ohm resistors, were in the kit. Also, the timing capacitor was 22 ufd, unlike the 47 ufd capacitor supplied in kits from other vendors. I tried the 22 ufd caps and found they increased the speed to the point where you rarely saw the LEDs flash blue. I’m replacing the 22 with a 47 ufd. I purchased 3 each kits and all had the same deficiencies. After putting the kits together, and fixing the problems, they did work. But, all these issues, increased the cost, and required ordering additional parts.

Bought for my 10 year old granddaughter. She assembled it under supervision (requires the use of a soldering iron and wire cutters) and it worked first time. Puts it in her bedroom every xmas.

Kit tres chouette pour les enfants. Mais il faut prevoir de poncer la rainure centrale car ne sâadapte pas bien. Et absence de mode dâemploi. Il faut se debrouiller

Liked:- Simple idea for any age- Quality components- Verbose PCB markings- Nice packaging- USB power cord includedIssues:First, there are no instructions (and no reference) except the wiring scheme. You have to know the components. The kit is not suitable for complete beginners or unsupervised studies.Second, there are no spare parts.Third, some components are inconsistent with each other. My kit included resistors 330, 1k and 2k to limit the current through LEDs as if there were 3 kinds of LEDs. However, all LEDs are the same. As a result, 1/3 of all LEDs are bright, 1/3 are ok and 1/3 (those connected to 2k) barely produce any light. The included capacitors are smaller than those stated on adeept web page: as a result, the tree flashes like crazy and does not produce a smooth lighting pattern you may see in videos. I did not manage to put the top-of-the-tree LED: it does not seem to be wired at all in my PCB. All of the above produces an impression of an incomplete kit with little to no actual testing.Fourth, you really need to apply force to make those PCBs aligned. Like a hammer force.Overall, I imagine many buyers abandoning this kit incomplete. I would certainly think twice before buying any advanced kit from the seller / producer.
