Great for beginners
As an electrical engineer and electronics hobbyist, I was delighted when my wife mentioned her interest in learning to solder. I picked up this kit for her to learn with. The kit is pretty simple with mostly through-hole components, with only the chip in the center being surface mount. The board is very clearly labeled. It also comes with a printed set of clear instructions that even outline the order you should install the components. This all adds up to what I was looking for in her first project- something easy, with clear instructions so she’s not bothered with the details of construction and can focus on learning soldering while building something interesting. The fact that to be done right, this should really be done by Christmas adds a bonus deadline I’m sure to push with her.We haven’t built it yet, but I’ve built enough stuff myself to know this is a great kit for a beginner. Straight forward and clear yet entertaining while learning a new skill.

Two pack christmas ornament with leds, learn to solder.
This is my fourth learn to solder kit.. and I have high hopes. This kit has two Christmas ornaments.. A circle of leds that alternately flash red or green. It is powered by one of those disc batteries. There is a minimal amount of smd soldering.. which is great. They have a picture and tell you to just follow the numbers. The print is small for me.. but I do have a magnifying glass for soldering. . And, the components are all very clearly labeled. This is a huge help.. I know from prior kits what to look out for.. double check the resistor labels, and watch for the led polarity. The long leg is the plus. Both circuits come carefully packed in a plastic case, about the size of a deck of cards. This would make a fantastic stocking stuffer for a teen, or anyone who wants to learn a new skill. I would not recommend it for younger children..Overall I am thrilled with this learn to solder kit. I would have given it five stars if the instructions had been a bit easier to read.

This is the perfect Christmas gift for Electrician!
This tree decoration is a very good idea on a PCB board. I ended up getting this to test out my new soldering gun as well as have some thing fun to do for practicing doing solder joints on a PCB board. Allows you to understand some of the components that you’re using to make this thing work and get used to tuning in your fine soldering skills at the same time! I have a couple electricians in the family and I’m certainly going to get them one of these for a stocking stuffer!
