Great for heavy duty jobs
I needed something to solder grounds to a metal chassis in a vintage tube guitar amplifier. The chassis acts like a giant heat sink so a regular iron just wont work. There are 2 tips; screwdriver tip also came in handy for removing components.

THIS is what you need, if you need real heat
I used this iron to solder guitar pickup covers back on. I previously had purchased a 40W iron, but that was not nearly hot enough. Using a regular soldering iron, the base of the pickup as a heat sink, so it soaks up the heat, and doesn’t allow the solder to become hot enough to spread properly on the base, so you need something much hotter. This 80 W iron did the job easily.This iron heated up the area very quickly, which was safer for the windings, I was able to apply a generous portion of solder, problem solved, marriage saved.

Does what it is intended to do
This is the big boy soldering iron. I bought this to be able to solder large gauge wires together and tin them. Found some other uses as well. Heats up fast and heats what you want to solder in a decent amount of time. 4 stars because if you set it down the tip will touch the ground because it is imbalanced.

Defective Soldering iron tip
I used this “new” soldering iron for my stained glass projects. It quickly had a hole melted through the tip! Amazon quickly refunded my purchase.

Not good for use in stained glass soldering
This iron may be good for other things, but it is not suitable for stained glass work. Because of the way the tip is secured in the shaft, it is not able to regulate a proper temp for soldering without melding your lead. ‘Tried lots of adjustments, and this one just doesn’t work well for stained glass.

Perfect dumb iron
I wanted something that got hot and stayed hot. Plug the iron in, have it on a metal stand and youâll have zero issues using this. This is a no frills no bells and whistles dumb iron perfect for soldering. Got hot in a quick enough time and stays hot long enough to unplug and bring in to tight areas for a few quick joints if necessary. Exactly what I was looking for.

More special tips should included and a heavier holder would be nice, or at least options to equip it.

Have the long chisel on, and chunks are coming off it. This did not happen with the small chisel end. Very disappointed.
