Fun little kit, but minor inconsistencies in the instructions
I bought this for my 15-yr old grandson who had not previously done any soldering of this type. We worked together and he was able to do it on his own with supervision. Lots of fun. It worked fine when assembled and was amusing to watch. Although I gave it 5 stars, please note that some of the instructions were slightly incorrect.The good news is that the parts inventory matched the parts we received, which meant we had one extra resistor and one extra machine screw. The included instructions were minimal so we downloaded the pdf which was much more helpful. Step 8 shows incorrect photos of the drive motors â they appear with drive axles extending on both sides of the body but actually the drive axle extends only on one side. That can be seen correctly in Step 9. Another minor inconsistency is that the red and black wires from the battery holder are attached on a different corner than shown in Step 11.The most difficult assembly step was getting the larger 16-pin IC properly inserted in its chip holder. That took care to properly bend the legs and press in. I needed to help with that, but all went well and we completed a fully operational toy.Note that the recommended age range is 15 yrs and up and I would say that is accurate. However, all the photos show children 6 yrs or less and are misleading unless you are careful to read the age guidance at the bottom of the page.

I acquired this practice soldering kit through Vine. I was interested in the product to practice/learn how to solder.I have used Arduino boards and breadboarding to connect and program various sensors before but I have not had to solder with them.I have soldered an extension cord back together… but that’s nothing quite like electronics and circuitry.I think I’m in over my head with this one.I’m learning so I haven’t had a chance to actually work on the kit.I’m just glad there is a QR code that links to more detailed, color instructions to follow… which I absolutely need. I uploaded a screenshot of the initial steps in that guide for reference.Good luck learning to solder!!

Great little practice for soldering.
I got this for my 10 year old daughter after we watched some videos about maze solving robots. It’s a relatively simple kit that has just enough soldering to learn and not so much that it becomes ardous.
