Small, but easy to solder parts. Lacking instructions.
I would classify this as a beginner friendly kit, save the oscillator. Everything is thru-hole (all the smd parts are pre-soldered) and you’ll need a fine(ish) soldering iron tip as the pads are small. The end result works as advertised. The interface can be a bit annoying to navigate with only two buttons, especially if you want to use the alarm function. It has an LDR and to enable it you want to press SW2 (the lower button) until you get to the brightest LED setting, then press SW2 once more. This should activate the light-sensitive mode.Be careful with the oscillator as it’s tiny and a heat sensitive part. The instructions I found don’t specifically mention it, but I did solder the oscillator can to the PCB with some low temp solder paste (there’s a pad on the PCB for this specific application). Don’t linger any longer than necessary with the iron as crystal oscillators can be easily damaged.The provided instruction QR code goes to a blank PDF, but you can easily find the same kit with links to proper instructions if you’re so inclined. The PCB is well marked, so instructions aren’t necessary if you have even a sliver of experience with PCB kit assembly.The included picture shows the clock living under my monitors. If I have one negative, it’s the shiny faceplate that reflects surrounding surfaces quite well. If it were a matte finish, it would be easier to read in certain conditions and blend in a bit better with surroundings. Not worth nocking a star off, but could be an issue if there’s a bright light directly hitting it.

Excellent RGB Clock Soldering Practice Kit
If you’d like to improve your soldering skills then this is an excellent Set which will allow you to do that. The clock comes with all the parts required to build including the clock housing , circuit board which holds all the components, all required components, battery and instructions. The LEDs are already pre soldered on the board because they are very small. If you’d like to hone your soldering skills or maybe even introduce a youngster to soldering. You can’t go wrong with this Soldering Practice Kit.
