Almost everything you need to get started, or as a backup.
I was traveling and needed a soldering iron, but mine were all back home. This was cheap and complete. The only thing that would make it even more complete would be a bit of rosin. The iron heats up quickly, and the kit has everything you need to get some soldering done. The numbering on the temperature dial is microscopic to the point that it’s tough for my aging eyes to tell which direction is hotter, let alone what the actual temperature was supposed to be. It’s still working fine after a number of uses. Everything being in a single case makes it convenient enough that I’ve grabbed this instead of my normal desk station a few times since purchase. I don’t think I’d depend on this if I was a professional running it hours every day, but for home use it’s working just fine.

LOVE it!
For years I thought I was awful at Soldering. I couldn’t get any solder to stick to anything. It always took forever to get hot enough to melt any and it would just roll around, no matter how I tinned or fluxed my iron. I was told it was a good iron and though it was vintage 80’s, most of the vintage stuff I have is still functional. Clearly my old soldering iron was NOT. Turns out it wasn’t getting nearly hot enough, also it weighed a ton and was cumbersome. This new one is lightweight enough to feel “cheap” but that is a GOOD THING when you’re wrangling little bits of things. It’s very easy to maneuver because of it’s light weight and the holder I got with mine matches the one in the item photos! It’s VERY nice and the iron doesn’t slip forward like it tends to with the cone shaped holders! I even used the wire stripper, some of the included wire (to make a battery adapter) and the solder sucker. It all worked great. The only thing that might be a bit iffy is the tweezers. They’re very soft and bend easily, but since they’re for tiny capacitors, it shouldn’t matter. Just be gentle with them and don’t use them for something they’re not intended for. One thing I would have added is a small Phillips head screwdriver as the wire part of the holder does need to be tightened to the base. Otherwise, it’s a very complete kit! The case itself is even very nice and feels durable.

Perfect for general light use
I purchased this for general use thatâs not specific for soldering use. Mainly to cut/melt through some plastics. Itâs a nice utility tool to have and in my handful of uses it worked well. It seemed to give accurate temperatures and the overall quality seemed durable enough. Thereâs a few different tips for different uses and they seemed to give accurate application to the tip. Easy to hold and use and cleaning was simple enough with the provided sponge. The only thing I didnât like was the stand which you have to bend to use. If you wanted to store it in a slim configuration you would have to bend it back. Obviously if you keep bending it back and forth itâs eventually going to snap. Other than that, itâs a decent general soldering gun.

Great kit!
Works as it should and is conveniently stored in it’s lightweight case.

Great deal, worked well
Purchased five kits for my local makerspace during classes and events. They were able to be used successfully by both beginners at our introductory soldering class and experienced members for personal projects. Its great that they come with everything you need to get started and can be stored and transported in the carrying case. The discounted price of $13 just can’t be beat for the quantity and convenience. My only suggestion would be to add an option that comes with “helping hands” to really complete the kit.

Nice
Wow for the price this thing really heats up fast. It came with a lot of extra stuff, but did use because I bought it for pen only to replace an old one I had.Nice digital read out easy to read.

Worked well for quite some time, then the cheapness crept in.
I bought this years ago now and have completed many projects will little issue, but it seems to have self destructed. My hypothesis as to its’ demise:The ceramic element had flaky black carbon which has led to poor heating, poor heating leads to rapid solder oxidation and the cheap tips can not cope. My last project required more watts than I typically use, 12 awg wire + xt60, which is EASILY within the scope of a 60w iron.Swapped out to a chisel tip, tinned up just fine and then it all went ugly. First joints were OK, then no matter what I did I couldn’t keep the tip clean for more than 2 joints without going into full cleaning routine. Cooled it off thinking it was a bad tip, second tip followed the same pattern. Cooled it off again and inspected it more closely, found the oxidation. Tried lowering the temp (it’s not thermostatically controlled, that dial only increases wattage)It could be bad tips, it could be the heating element, it could be I’ve forgotten how to solder and care for my iron. Either way, she is dead to me now.Overall it really isn’t a “good” iron, never was, but it was good enough and great for the money. Served me well for 4+ years of occasional use including smt, hobby and household uses.Advice: The iron is ok, the tweezers are decent, the sucker is OK (prefer wick), the stripper is crap, included solder is lead free and therefore harder to work with, the stand is not terribly stable, the sponge is a sponge, the tips absolutely REQUIRE you to maintain them and the case is nice enough. Add in the price of good flux core solder SRA 63/47 or similar, some paste flux or flux pen, helping hands thingy and you’ll have a nice setup for the price. Warning: thin plastic threads are weaker than you are, use care.

Did not work for plastic
Liked looks and would probably worked for soldering butDisliked. The tips for melting plastic would not fit so i had to send it back

I have no prior soldering experience.I’ve used it to successfully swap pickups in one my guitar. The price of the kit, is cheaper than the cost of a technician to the swap.
