SAPPHIRE-60/40 is 60% tin and the balance lead. A consistent and smooth flowing solder, 60/40 is the best selling alloy in the stained glass field. It melts at 372 deg F, and solidifies at 361 deg F. The “pasty range” (most solders melt at a higher temperature than they freeze at, the difference between these figures is the pasty range) of 60/40 is smaller than that of 50/50, giving the user a smoother bead. Good quality solder
Used this for tinning some copper electrical bus bars. Mixture flowed well with no problems. Definitely good stuff.

Will be ordering again
I had 11 transoms to make and the solder flowed very easily and fluidly The price was just a little bit higher then I wanted to pay but I think I blame covid on this.

I use this solder for my stained glass suncatchers and window art. It does the job nicely!! Here are a few samples. Received my last order in less than 48 hours so thatâs a plus. Just wish the dang things werenât so expensive!!! But this vendor offers very competitive pricing too.

Relabeled product
I’m not sure what this really is, but there are a few differences that were concerning to me. The resolution of the printed label, the colors are a bit off, in this photo you can see where a label was taken off and this one put on.Buyer beware.

Great price, melts and flows well for a nice even seam
I use this solder for stained glass art and find the price very appealing on the 5-pack. I was worried about using a different brand and “getting what you pay for” as in thinking this would be lesser quality but happily I am not disappointed. It seems to have less noxious odor than the brand I used last, although I do still wear an N-95 mask to keep from inhaling the fumes. Pieces really turn out well and the patina takes to the material beautifully. It also polishes up well for a shiny chrome look if that is what you are trying to accomplish. Will purchase again.
