You Will Need an Increased Wattage to Solder Wires to Metal Lugs
I bought the 30 watt, and it worked great for the PC boards that I wanted to work on. I was building guitar effect pedals, and it was good. Then I wanted to do some work on a 3 way switch on my Epiphone Les Paul and I thought I could do it without taking the switch loose because the 30 watt would reach in there without any problem. Nope. it would not get hot enough because the switch lug was acting like a heat sink. The gun was a bad idea, lol. It melted the insulation so I had to take the switch out, anyway. The ground lug is a significant piece of metal, and I do not think it can be soldered on without a gun, but the 60 watt worked on the lighter wire lugs.

I was psyched when I started using the first one, because I could change the tip out and use it for brass inserts on 3D printed parts. It worked great, but then next time I went to use it, it wouldnât get hot at all. Because I tossed the packaging (I mean who ever heard of a soldering iron breaking), I could return it but it was so useful, stupid me bought a second one. It also broke on the second use. This one at least I have the packaging still.

Consistently good quality
I always buy Weller when it comes to soldering. Great value and longevity. My last iron is over 40 years old!

LED Halo light is a great plus when soldering tight spaces.
This iron replaced a 40w weller I bought over 30 years. I’m very pleased using it to solder tight spaces.

Great for stain glass
After trying 4 other brands this was the perfect one. It gets the right temp so I can use it for my stained glass projects.

WORKED FOR ME
Not all of these Weller solder irons use the same tips. They do not tell you the barrel size in the ad but the 30 watt model has much thinner tips than the 60 watt so if you’re replace your old Weller check which one you have or you won’t be able to use any tips you already have.

Para los compradores, vean las fotos, el tubo se hace rojo y la punta se carboniza de inmediato, es imposible quitar soldadura, sobre todo solo puse a prueba la que viene instalada la de mayor calibre y aun asà se hizo muy fea. Para mi no sirve este tipo de cautÃn de weller, ha de ser una copia barata. La iluminación no sirve usan led de los antiguos siempre hace sombra. No lo compren, y apenas hace unas hora lo recibà y mejor le puse devolver x fallas.
