Pu the old soldering iron away, and Buy the Gun
I do a fair amount of automotive wiring. I don’t trust crimp connectors by themselves to produce reliable long-term electrical connections, so I use bare crimp connectors, crimped, soldered, and insulated with shrink wrap tubing or shrink tape. This Weller soldering gun makes soldering those connectors much easier and faster than using a soldering iron. Yes, the gun is bulky, and the tip stays hot for a long time after the work is done. But the gun heats the parts very quickly, and melts the .8 mm rosin core solder almost instantly.

Needed hotter soldering gun
Was trying to replace capacitors on a power supply board from an old 286 laptop and my soldering iron was not getting hot enough. This one worked great! Did what I needed it to do. Unfortunately the laptop is still in pieces and does not work. Another project for another day.

Works well-trigger snags while pushing it down
Its a pretty good purchase although the trigger is catchy when you push it down. Also the case provided with the soldering gun snags the trigger while taking it out or putting it in, poor design would eventuallybreak the trigger switch off. I took a cutting wheel and removed the part of the case interfering to prevent breaking it. It does work well and has plenty of heat for a fast solder job so pleased with the purchase otherwise.

Nice heavy duty.
I bought my last one about 50 years ago radio shack and it’s lasted all these years with no problems. I use this both inside the house and outside on cold days so you need the double temperature setting for a cold locations. Just buy extra tips because in cold weather the original ones that come with it melt kind of quickly. 30 or 40 connections you need to replace it at high temp use. Make sure you check your screws that hold it in that they’re nice and tight then there’s no problem the gun heats quickly and lasts a long time. . I use for soldering wires from 26 gauge up to 10 gauge, and from anything with two wires up to five wires for solder connection.

Excellent quality, rugged and powerful
I work on electric guitars and needed a good soldering tool for wiring. This is a lot heavier than the little soldering tools but it is also very powerful and easy to control. It heats up in a matter of seconds and the trigger works really well. I spliced in a new set of guitar pickups very quickly with this and was very impressed with the quality and power. Don’t cheap out on a Chinese knockoff, for the price this is well worth it and I expect will serve me for many jobs to come. The kit also comes with an extra tip, light bulb, and a small roll of solder (very small roll so you will probably want to get some more). I also recommend getting a scrubber so you can clean the tip which didn’t come with the kit.

Best in the business!
After looking high and low for the solder gun of my youth I finally found it and it works just like my grandpas! Sometimes the lights work most the time they donât but the solder gun is an absolute work horse from small 16 gauge wire to #6 thhn! I expect this will work for 50 years just like grandpas

Does not heat up as fast as claimed, but reheats very quickly one it is in use.
Not for electronics at all- much too hot, but good for wire soldering on antennas, phase line, splicing, etc. Also suitable for light sheet metal work. The case is plastic hinge which will not last if you open and close frequently. Plan on just making a hanger in your shop for the gun. The plastic cutting/smoothing tips are a nice addition for odd projects. The last Weller gun I owned lasted from 1960 until three years ago. My dad purchased it originally and I used it after with no problems. The new gun is nearly identical, but has a 7 year warranty. The grip has not improved over time, nor has the cheap incandescent flashlight bul built in. The switch is still two positon trigger squeeze and takes some practice. The handle is not comfortable to hold for long, but I haven’t seen much better out there. It is an average built worker’s tool, not recommended for hobby use, but decent for light industry type work.

La misma calidad de antes, con la mejora de la sujeción de las puntas.

Super fast heat transfer! Surprisingly accurate heating points considering the size. Excellent for electrical work. Not sure how well it’ll work on fine electronics though as the device is kind of chunky compared to rod-shaped soldering irons, but maybe just get a more appropriate iron for that purpose
No lo recomiendo el agua sale tibia y la frÃa nada más sale un vaso pequeño ya la otra sale normal y lo peor que no se puede regresar ð¤£ð¤£ð¤£December 5, 2024

I purchased this to replace the same soldering gun that I have been using for the last 40 years. Like anything built today, it’s not as well built as my old one that finally quit working, however, it seems to work every bit as good.
