These are very good for holding the wires that need soldering.

Not useful for strong support
The tool was very small, and the clips and magnets were not strong enough to hold the two pieces of thicker wire from my Christmas decoration together. It does not have the support needed to perform the task of keeping the two wires together in order to solder them. I suppose it would be okay for to hold together thin wires, but there is no support to hold larger wires that are under stress.**Update** The company contacted me via Amazon offering and giving a full refund since the product did not meet my specific needs. Excellent customer service!Although it did not work out for my larger project, I still think the product would work great for smaller projects.

I need all the helping hands I can get.
These are great tools to help with holding components in place when you need an extra set of fingers. The magnets are strong and hold the brackets securely in place. The clips are sturdy and well made. They are securely mounted into the magnetic bases and are easily positioned to help when and where you need it.Having the magnets on the base provide a sturdy upright support for holding wires or components in place. Having the magnets on the ends give the ability to rotate the base into a variety of positions. The set work well together to hold multiple pieces together when trying to align and attach components together. I have these in my soldering kit and they are working very well. I have a magnetic working mat that allows me to position these in a variety of positions when doing soldering projects. Having the ability to move the entire base and clip works very well. My other helping hands setups have longer bendy arms that work good, but can be limited to where I can use them. The size and magnets of these holders allows me to use these in a variety of different locations.The set comes with two bases and three clips. The third clip is an extra that can be used as a replacement. The clips each feel sturdy, and will likely not need to be replaced for a while. The cutout foam storage is ok, and is ok for me as I already have a soldering case that these are stored in. If going into a drawer or box, the magnets may collect metal filings.I am VERY happy with these helping hands.

You always need a helping hand when soldering
Before the invention of helping hand devices, I used to struggle with holding wires in place while soldering. I would delicately balance them on top of film canisters or anything I could find. At times, I would even use tweezers or pliers to hold the wires and use my teeth to stabilize the other end while soldering, which was very unstable and potentially dangerous.The new third-hand system is a significant improvement as it incorporates magnets. This allows for flexible positioning, and when paired with a magnetic base, it enables movement into different orientations and positions. Very cool!

These are small but useful when soldering switches
You’re going to want to place these on a magnetic surface so they don’t fall, if you don’t have one then maybe consider something different. I mostly just solder mouse or keyboard switches these days and these have been great for that. Clamp force is really good, experienced nothing dropping.

Finding these very useful (and they look cool)
I’ve gotten the chance to use these a LOT and have found them to be super useful. The magnets are strong enough and sit securely on my ‘soldering station’. I like their versatility for the price.The clips aren’t the best quality but they are on par with most of what’s out there. If you’re willing to pay a lot more, I’d recommend some quality “helping hands”. But for my purposes, these work great. And I like the color. Recommeded.

Pretty versatile, clips are super tight on arrival
These are exactly as advertised and can be used for a variety of projects. All you need is a piece of metal that you can stick a magnet to and you are good to go. Be aware that they are on the small side which limits them in some ways but also makes them great if you need to solder in small spaces. The covers over the alligator clips are a really nice bonus.From my perspective, there are only two small issues: 1. The alligator clips are pretty hard to open on arrival. This may be good for their long term durability, but in the short term it is kind of a pain. 2. They only work vertically. Note that you can use the fact that the alligator clips screw into the base for a little horizontal flexibility, but you’re stuck with the 90 degree vertical.
