Surprisingly good for what it is
I’m a soldering professional. I needed an iron to use away from an outlet for some personal projects.Works great for simple jobs. As long as you’re not dealing with a heavy ground/voltage plane or really thick wires, it works great. Was able to do basic wire soldering, thru-hole components, and SMD components without issues. It’s really awesome that it comes with 3 tips for different use, and that the heater is part of the tip itself. The battery life isn’t amazing, but I was able to get 30-60 minutes out of it. I probably will put a better battery in or get a USB-C power bank. That being said, the included solder and flux are absolute useless GARBAGE. The solder is likely lead-free, and a poor one at that, and the “flux” is just super hard rosin in a carton. Useless. I threw them away and used Kester 60/40 solder for all jobs, and STIRRI-ASM-TF flux as needed.

If you use a soldering gun and don’t have one of these… You’ll want one.
This is a great kit. Came with everything you need. Worked great!

Doesn’t get hot enough.
Might work for circuit boards but will not solder vehicle wiring or melt solder for that matter. Weller butane soldering iron I had needs a tip that cost more than this whole iron but I should have just ordered the tip and saved the trouble.

Great for small to medium jobs, hindered by lack of real-time battery status & accessories
This soldering iron kit comes with everything you need to get started on your electronics journey. You get solder (though I don’t care much for this, I’d rather have leaded solder), flux, three heating elements, rosin, and a stand with a sponge. The stand is pretty cheap, and the sponge for cleaning your tip so tiny to be useless. After inserting the tip of your choice, hold the power button for a couple of seconds, and the soldering iron will heat up in about 20 seconds. You can set the temperature of the iron to one of 5 presets. The temperature you choose will depend on the type of solder and how large of an area you are trying to apply solder. When you lay the iron on the stand, it will go to sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity, and complete power off 5 minutes later. This iron is good for relatively small to medium projects, such as making repairs to a printed circuit board and its associated wiring or small to medium sized PCBs. It isn’t suitable for a large project, such as soldering all the components on a large PCB for an hour or more. I timed the life of the battery charge when the temperature was set to 260C, and it was about 40 minutes. So the person that claimed a charge only lasts 5 minutes is a bit off on their estimate. Even though this iron will notify you of low battery power, I think it is hindered by not having a real-time battery charge estimate. You have no idea whether you should begin a project or recharge the iron first. A simple bar graph would be very useful.I’m also bothered by the fact that I cannot find any replacement heating elements in the MEAKEST Amazon store. Eventually you will want to replace one or more tips.Pros:a) Rapid heating to a desired preset temperature.b) Standard USB-C to USB-A cable for charging.c) Comes with everything you need to start a project.Cons:a) Lack of real-time battery status display.b) Only good for small to medium projects, but that’s OK for me.d) You may want to use your own solder rather than the included sample.e) Seller’s Amazon store doesn’t show availability of any replacement heating elements.f) Included stand is cheap and the sponge is inadequate.

It’s ok – not for stained glass – small jobs only
If you are just doing something small and simple this little USB solder pen will be just fine. The battery lasts about 25 minutes.Do not use this soldering pen with stained glass, it just does not get hot enough and it does not sustain its temperature enough to melt the solder. The battery life is not long enough for that.If you are just doing something small and simple and just need to solder a couple of things together pretty quick this thing is amazing.
