Works great for quick repairs of plastic parts
This plastic welder works great for quick repairs of plastic parts. It’s really easy to use. It can heat the hot staples to glowing red in just a few seconds. So it doesn’t take long to get hot enough to do the job even in high melting temp plastics and comes with a nice variety of types of hot staples.

Works well. Instructions OK, no tips or instructions for using the tool.
My need for this welder arises from working on multi-part 3D printing projects. In the past, I’ve employed “super glue” in conjunction with dowels or pins. However, this method is time-consuming and, depending on the project, not always effective. Upon witnessing this style of plastic welding in action while watching a video about fixing bumpers, I became eager to try it out for 3D printed projects, among other applications.Firstly, I must highlight that this is a rare situation where the product appears even better in person than it does in the listing. The plastic is more rugged and less toy-like than the product listing images might suggest. While I wouldn’t recommend drop testing it, I have no concerns about it breaking with the slightest impact either. The tool performs admirably. However, for those unfamiliar with the process, I would recommend practicing on some discarded materials and perhaps watching a video or two. The lack of useful information in the instructions is the single biggest drawback of the product. The instructions provide no guidance on the application of the tool. The only useful information in the entire instruction booklet is a notice about its thermal shutoff function. There is not a single mention of the best way to use the tool or even how to use it at all. While the operation is straightforward â there’s no need to explain how to insert a staple or pull the trigger to heat it up â it would be helpful to have some tips on the general process of welding plastic and specifically how best to weld plastic with this tool. For a test, I printed some ABS squares and performed a couple of welds. I attempted welding two squares side by side using the staple made for small cracks, heating the staple and then applying it to the plastic. Next, I tried the staple intended for larger cracks by welding two squares with a small gap between them. This time I held the staple against the plastic while heating and that seemed to work better than heating the staple before applying it to the plastic. Both welds were successful, however I didn’t conduct any sort of torture test. I think the staple welds will work well in applications where there is room for multiple staples. The tool provided to cut the excess from the staples worked well enough, but if I were using this frequently, I would probably seek a better option.Despite the weak documentation, the tool does all I need it to, and appears sturdier than similar products in its price range. I would recommend it others and would consider other products from this manufacturer based on my experience with this one.

It works!
Never knew something like this existed before! But I had a broken outer plastic part on my vehicle that was actually split in two. I used this to put it back together and it worked and I was able to snap it back in place. I would never would have thought of something like this. Once I was finished you really couldnât tell where the piece was split at. I only wish I would have taken a before and after picture. But in all my excitement over it I just completely forgot. Highly recommend this tool, it is so handy and like the piece I fixed on my SUV, it saved me a lot of money. Even small replacement parts on autos today are getting ridiculous in price. So this tool pays for itself most likely in its first fix!!

My first plastic welder
Item reviewed: WEP 960-V85 High Power Plastic Welder Kit with LED Lights with 200 Hot Staples and PliersDate reviewed: January 15, 2024I got another set of hot staples before I got the welder itself, so I did some watching of YT videos about how to use a plastic welder. This kit is complete – comes with the plastic welder, tons of staples, and a cutting tool to snip the ends off of the staples after you’re done welding.First thing’s first – don’t be dumb like me and do this inside. Esp in winter with no ventilation. The first thing I tried to weld was a plastic hair clip (just to test) and it caught fire (the clip, not the welder). Fumes and smoke everywhere. You’re melting plastic – it’s going to stink and put off gasses. My 2nd welding attempt was more successful, but again, I pushed too hard into the plastic and it went through. Obviously, thin plastics are going to be hard to weld. The instructions are not great (see pic). Since the staples remain hot until you release the trigger, you can’t wait for the plastic to cool and then release the trigger. I also wasn’t clear how to GET the staples into the welder. The two holes do not align perfectly with the staple ends, so you have to kind of push in one side of the staple to get it into the welder. In reading the instructions, “clamp a hot staple with the plier and install the staple into the copper tube”, I didn’t understand what to do. The staple should not be hot before you put it into the welder, and I have no idea how you’d use the included pliers to get the staple into the welder. I eventually just ended up using my hands to put the staples in. The tubes and the staples do not get hot until you press the trigger. The welder appears to be well-made and sturdy, but only time will tell. The LED on the welder is a nice touch. And these are TONS of staples for you to try out. There are about four different designs of staples, all your plastic welding needs should be met.Overall, I like it. The main issue for me is the poor instructions.

Pretty nice
Plastic welding is a bit of an art. I have a Harbor Freight air plastic welder, but never could do a decent job with it. I then resorted to using a very old Craftsmen soldering gun, which worked pretty good since it has a large tip that heats up red hot in seconds (they don’t make ’em like that any more). Now I have this WEP plastic welder and it is pretty easy to use and seems to do a good job, in my hands anyway. This stapler type is new to me and I think it is a great concept. Seems to make it easier and produces a stronger union between pieces of plastic. This will be what I use for most jobs now.
