A good plastic repair option
First, this is a good little tool to help repair plastic items. But, the instructions were very incomplete. Happily, it was not difficult to figure out how it works. You’re not going to end up with a repair that’s invisible – but at least it should be repaired. The toolbox it comes in is not ideal for storage of the repair staples that come with it – but they can easily be stored in other containers. It does heat up very quickly, so be ready to get that repair staple in place.

Works well
As other reviews have stated, it’s not exactly a welder by definition. It doesn’t melt the plastic from 2 pieces into one. It simply staples them together to hold. For some reason I thought it might do both, but it doesn’t.The first thing I repaired was the clip for my otterbox on my work iPhone. One of the corners snapped off which, so I was able to use the staples to put it back on.As far as functionality is concerned, it worked and is holding. The only issue that I have is with the side cutters. They aren’t the style that cut all the way at the edge, so it leaves part of the wire sticking out when you cut it. There is no way to cut the wire of flush with the provided clippers. I had to take a dremel and sand them down flush. As long as you factor that in, it’s a great tool. Wish they had an attachment that would allow you to use it like a soldering gun to actually melt and weld the plastic.

Does what it is supposed to do.
I checked out some youtube videos of guys using these and got some good tips. It worked exactly like their devices worked. I think it has a pretty limited range of applications, but it certainly will weld plastic fenders better than most goops. I would order again.

Handy Tool
This will be handy to have around to repair broken plastic items. Would have loved to have had this for use on my daughterâs last car which had cracks in the bumper. Would have peen perfect. Of course I don’t have anything in need of repair at the moment, but decided to test it out on a piece of PVC pipe to see how it works. First off, donât try this in your house, outside or a very well ventilated venue is best. The plastic can give off a strong chemical smell depending on what type of plastic you are using. Comes in a nice carrying case with lots of staples for different situations. Has a charging cable without a charging block. The cable is USB to USB-C, and needs a standard 5w charging block. Also included are a pair of wire snips, a razor knife and a sheet with directions. The directions could be a lot clearer and easier to understand in my opinion, but there are videos online you can look up on how to use such a tool. After placing a staple in the copper protruding ends of the gun, simply pull the trigger for about 5 seconds, the staple will become hot, then simply press it into the plastic and it melts right into the plastic like a hot knife going through butter. From the instructions, I gather you should somehow use the included razor knife to smooth out the plastic, but I only inserted the staples and broke of the ends that stuck out. Held in there great. With a little practice I think Iâd get pretty good at smoothing out the plastic too. Bottom line, worked well and love that it is cordless.
