The Ultimate Helping Hands
How we got our start We needed a sturdy, well-built helping hands device for use in our product development studio. The ones we tried were flimsy, hard to adjust, and would easily tip over with even small projects. So, in true “scratch our own itch” fashion, we created the QuadHands four-armed helping hand device. What makes our product unique Manufacturing QuadHands in our own facilities in Charleston, SC, enables a focus on quality and durability that’s attracted corporate users including Microsoft, Apple, Siemens, Tesla, and SpaceX. Why we love what we do Our purpose is to design and build better versions of things folks are looking for. Offering specialized products for other makers empowers us to multiply that impact, making the world a more creative place!
WHEN YOU NEED A HAND: QuadHands Classic is the ultimate workbench tool and vise. When you need a third hand it holds a project so you can solder, weld miniatures, paint or glue with precision. Clamp it and move it to any position. Work smarter not harder!
STRONG CLAMP: Stainless steel rotating alligator clamps with removable silicone covers (protects microchips) lock into place with a quick turn of a thumb nut. Perfect for engineers, artists or hobbyists who work on projects that require extreme accuracy.
INNOVATIVE FLEX DESIGN: QuadHands Workbench kit is the perfect work station assistant. Four heat resistant, secured-in location arms (8” & 16”) bend and move with flexibility allowing you to steadily use a soldering iron for prolonged periods of time.
WEIGHTED BASE: A heavy powder coated steel 8”x8” base with rubber feet won’t slip, tip over, slide or move an inch while you work on your project at your desk or bench. The covered feet also protect your work space’s surfaces from scratching and scuffing.

Best helping hands you will ever find.
I usually don’t do product reviews unless I feel the product is exceptional in its build quality and materials, plus value versus money spent. All I can say is wow! This thing is a piece of art in itself. I got the newer version with the powder coated base. Its a slightly off color yellow but a very beautiful color. The arms are not coated with any rubber coating and they bend very easily and stay in place exactly where you put them with no springy action like some reviewers noted on the older models. The rear arms are also 100 millimeters longer than the previous models at around 15 inches long. The alligator clips are the perfect size, not to big but not to small. There is a locking nut on each clip to adjust the rotation of the clip for the perfect hold. I added a very high quality heat shrink tubing to each clip as to not mare anything I’m holding and to not eat into any wire insulation.I have been soldering for over 35 years and in that time have gone through about 10 of those cheap China made helping hands. You know the ones I’m talking about. The ones that tip over easily and made with the world’s cheapest hardware. Those are just junk. I made a pattern of the base to have my bother-in-law who is a machinist laser cut me a cover plate that can easily be removed out of heavy gauge galvanized steel to protect the finish on the base. This way if any solder drops it wont damage the beautiful powder coated finish.I also model in G, 1/43 and HO scale trains. I will use this to hold figurines and other items for hand painting. I can have four things going on at the same time. Me and my son recently got into electric RC cars and trucks. The arms are long enough to reach up into the chassis for soldering items for repair. I’m sure I will find many other uses for this as well. The problem is, is this is so nice you might not want to use it at all, you will want to put it on a shelf for display. I know this will outlast my lifetime and can be handed down for generations to come. Was this QuadHands expensive? Yes but not overpriced. Is it worth it? Yes, every single cent. All I can say is buy it. You wont be disappointed.

A very sturdy and well-made product
I expected a great product based on other reviews for the QuadHands, and I was still surprised at how good of a product it is. The QuadHands has a very good wide base with a nice weight to it so you’re unlikely to push it over. The arms are also easy to work with and they keep their shape very well without springing back when you move them. The clamps have a good strength to them and they have teeth. If that’s a problem for you, my QuadHands came with a little card that had instructions for emailing the manufacturer, who will then send you silicone clamp covers for free. I use the QuadHands for holding PCBs and other small, very light things, but I would imagine that if you happened to try to hold something that’s a bit heavier the arms would collapse. For reference, I clipped one of the arms to a Manfrotto super clamp, which weighs 0.88 pounds (according to Amazon), and the arm collapsed.TIP: It took me a minute to figure out how you’re supposed to adjust the rotation of the clamps. It turns out that you’re supposed to slightly unscrew the clamp a little and get it rotated to where you want, and then the end of the black arm has an adjuster that you screw out to tighten the clamp again.Overall, I am glad that I purchased the QuadHands and it gets five stars from me!

A heavy and sturdy helping hand.
This stand is SOLID. Once you set it down it’s not going anywhere unless you really want it to. The feet are heavy duty rubber and they have a smooth but almost sticky quality to them that keep them from sliding. The hands themselves are able to be rotated 360 and then clamped into place by tightening the nut just below them. The rubber pads over the tips of the hands were a nice touch. I’ve used some of the old style helping hands and always struggled with them to get them to stay in place. These are a such a nice experience in comparison, things simply stay where you put them. I highly recommend these.

Competent product, awesome customer service
The product itself is well built, and it does its job as advertised. The arms are perhaps not as malliable as I’d like and they can drift a bit from where you want them making positioning a little finicky. That being said I think its a limitation of any Octopus arm design, not just this one. The product does it job very well overall. Their customer service is top knotch though. I had a missing foot on mine and contacted them and in very short order they sent me a new set of feet. Its sudits my needs as well as anything could and I love the way the company treated me overall. When they have more flip board circuit holders available, I’ll definetely get one of those.

they fit snugly over the clamps and do a great job holding PCBs in place
I can confirm that as of my most recent purchase in early 2018, that they are including silicon covers for the jaws now. I have not found a need to take them off either, they fit snugly over the clamps and do a great job holding PCBs in place. These are obviously more expensive than your typical helping hands, but are significantly easier to use. The longer arms in particular are very flexible and hold their shape when you position them, making these some of the best performing helpers I’ve ever used. The base is actually very thick gauge steel, and the included rubber feet are also pretty big. This thing overall takes up a lot of space, but the tradeoff is a rock solid work station. The only thing I didn’t like about them: The shorter arms don’t hold their shape as well as the longer arms. They have a tendency to straighten out. I usually use the long arms anyways, but keep this in mind when you’re trying to position your projects.

Nicely made, very sturdy and has nice weight – I’m not worried anything will tip over, does exactly what I want it to.

Soldered for years with burnt fingers and clamps and balancing circuit boards. Should have got one of these ages back. Now I have can’t believe how good it is. If you like messing with electronics and need some extra hands – just get one of these and you will wonder why you did not sooner.

Bought this from the warehouse on a deal, however when it came it was missing the feet and bolts. Emailed QuadHands and they got back straight away, shipping replacements from USA to UK in 3 days! Incredible service. Thank you. Looks very professional kit, probably too good for me.
